“Quality and comfort unsurpassed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

If you are visiting East Sussex then look no further than Hailsham Grange for your accommodation. A gracious house with eclectically furnished rooms and a generous host. There is coach house accommodation on the property as well as accommodation in the main house. Rooms in the main house have the advantage of spectacular views over the magnificent garden created by the owner and are an absolute delight in themselves. Please do yourself a favour and enjoy a stay at Hailsham Grange. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for the east room overlooking the garden

A lovely house, gorgeous garden, warm welcome, comfortable bed and super breakfast. Can't ask for more other than to wish there were more b&bs like this one. Although located in the middle of a small town, we weren't disturbed by any noise. A good place to stay if visiting Glyndebourne.

If you're looking for accommodation with traditional English Grace and style you should add the Hailsham Grange to your MUST list!

Built as a vicarage for the adjacent Anglican church in the early 1700's, the Hailsham Grange is a fine representation of a gentler time. A formal Queen Anne period style building features superb intricate wood-work, wide stairwell moulded oak handrails and intricate décor maintained with dedication and love.

All rooms are en suite and strictly non-smoking. Whilst we loved the main-building room with the four-poster bed, we opted to stay in the coach house adjacent to the main building. The coach house features two separate en suite rooms with a combined centre sitting room. There's a small kitchen with fridge, tea & coffee making facilities. Both rooms have televisions, hair dryer, alarm clocks, and I was delighted to find there was free WiFi access. Always important to me was the fact there was plenty of hot water in volume!

Whilst the Grange is directly behind the church that faces onto Hailsham's High Street, the tranquil nature of the property was amazing! I could not hear a sound from anywhere. Combine this with the stunning magnificence of the meticulously maintained gardens and you might imagine you're in a distant land. I read that the gardens are so unique they've twice been featured in Country Life magazine. The clear dedication to the care and preservation of the gardens and house is axiomatic. All guests have free and unrestricted access to them, whether in the main house or the coach house.

I chose the Hailsham Grange as a place to stay whilst celebrating a funeral the following morning at the Eastbourne Crematory. The environment helped to buffer the emotive nature of the visit. I must add a special compliment to the hosts. They went out of the way to make our stay a comfortable memorable one.

Breakfast excelled far beyond our expectations. The organic bacon and eggs resounded with flavour. My friend who travelled with me had a special appreciation for the fresh morning breads. As a vegetarian she says the jam was among the best she'd ever had and was pleased at how accommodating the hosts were in preparing her Vegan breakfast which included freshly prepared fruits and breads.

In addition to being directly off the High Street, the B&B is also adjacent to a number of local and national shops, including Waitrose. There's a lovely pond just off the common for morning or evening walks.

As I look back through the other reviews I've written I realise it's not often that I get to write a review that has virtually nothing to criticise. In this instance I'm delighted to say that even if I were to try I doubt I could find anything.

Lovely village, lovely people, lovely stay! Thank You!

Room Tip: I highly recommend you consider staying in the main building in their four-poster Queen Anne bed. It...
