“The most welcoming hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

This B&B is the most welcoming because of the hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed home cooked food on our first night and massages on our 2nd night. Little touches like fresh milk in the room make all the difference. Chris recommended a local walk for us and we went to Le Mistral restaurant for our 2nd nights meal. Breakfast was great. We are returning with our son and bikes to explore some more!

Really loved our night's stay, we wanted a little break in the country and got everything we'd hoped for. Chris and Denise were happy to provide us will lots of information about the local area. We had dinner in the Le Mistral up the road, which caters to both omnivore and vegan tastes (and does a great deal from Sunday to Wednesday of two main meals and a bottle of wine for £23). Church View room was super comfortable, very nicely decorated and well-stocked with milk/soymilk, lots of different teas, coffee, water, books on the Peak District, fiction novels. The vegan breakfast was great, and loved having a chat with the very down-to-earth, approachable Chris and Denise, before going on a walk through the hills. Thank you!

Really enjoyed our stay at no. 37 recently. Chris & Denise were the perfect hosts, so friendly and welcoming. They were great at suggesting places to go and suitable walks to do with a one year old. Chris and Denise also do a lovely brekkie, we resisted the temptation of a full-English and opted instead for the porridge, eggs and toast with yummy home-made jam, which set us up for the day! We also enjoyed hearing Chris' anecdotes of life in Wirksworth and Denise was more than happy to keep our little girl entertained while my husband and I ate our food. We especially enjoyed finding afternoon cakes in the room after a long walk and one night Denise cooked up a delicious 3 course dinner for us. So we had no need to venture out into the cold! All in all we found No. 37 a really fun and cosy place to stay!

Really glad we stayed with Denise & Chris. We were made to feel very welcome even by the cats! Placed very central it was ideal for the 50th birthday bash at the town hall. The room(church View) was very comfortable and the provision of fresh milk in a thermos flask was so much better than the usual long life mini cartons provided at most hotels & b &bs. Breakfast was delicious with as much coffee and tea as you wanted. Wirksworth is a nice town and is ideally placed for walking and cycling. What I would say and this is purely a personal point of view is that the lack of on suite was ok for a brief stay but for anything more than a night would put me off.

What a warm welcoming and very comfortable place to stay. A brilliant nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. I had a morning call and was cooked a full vegetarian breakfast with all the trimmings. Denise and Chris were most helpfull and had solutions for any queries. Worksworth is a lovely town and well worth a visit. I will certainly be staying there again.

We had a great stay at number 37. We arrived on Friday night after a long journey and we were immediately welcomed and shown to our room (church view) which was really lovely with a sofa and the comfiest bed. Chris helped us straight away with suggestions of where to go for a drink!
Breakfast both mornings was delicious with lots of choice and Chris and Denise were brilliant hosts making sure we had everything we wanted.
Chris had suggestions for walks and we were given a map and detailed instructions for a great walk up the hills around the town. When we got back the room had been freshened and there was even home made cake waiting.
Various recommendations were given for dinner on the Saturday night.
The next day at breakfast we got more suggestions for out of season activities to do with our niece and nephew who also stayed.
The town itself is beautiful with lots of little shops which are perfect to while away any time not spent walking in the surrounding hills.
We had a fabulous two days.
We also went with our dog who was just as welcome and Chris and Denise again gave suggestions of pubs and restaurants where he would be welcome.
All in all we would recommend Number 37 to anyone who wants a relaxing break with great breakfasts and beautiful walking and very accommodating hosts.

We met with friends so we didn't see the owners straight away, But they seemed very nice, and the three cats.
Having stayed at plenty of hotels and b&bs it could do with a bit of updating in parts, and the breakfast area felt like it could be cleaner and a little fresher. It only had one table and two Sofa's.which with a family of four and two other couples a bit of a squeeze. The biggest thing for us with a young family was not having an ensuite, especially as its priced the same as others with an ensuite.
Overall it was ok for one night but for me that would be all.
Would I come back probably not.
