“A Good Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

On a day out with family we chanced upon the Anchor Inn.
We decided to pop in for a meal and did not regret our choice.
The food was well prepared, good portions and very tasty.
My Brother in Law had a Rib Eye Steak, which he said was one of the best
he had tasted, cooked to perfection.
The service we received was very good and the staff pleasant.
The pub itself is old world in style, which we liked.
Suffice to say, if we are ever in the area again we will call in for a meal.

“Excellent value for money and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We had not been to The Anchor for some months but we were welcomed back as if it were just yesterday. The daily specials board that supplements the menu had some traditional fare as well as more unusual things like a Mongolian chicken and pork curry with coconut rice.
The pie of the day was a homemade suet steak and kidney pudding - it can served with great chips and peas and we had a side order of veg. These were red cabbage, broccoli and carrot.
The portions are epic and we fortunately remembered and did not have starters. We only managed to have a shared pudding.
Good real ale - Hop Circle was on.
They should be full all the time and we will certainly be back soon

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Just had to say, I had one of the best meals out in ages at the Anchor Inn. The sticky toffee pudding is the best I've ever had! I'm very much looking forward to going back. Service was good and the two owners were very friendly.

“What a shame.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

After reading all of the positive reviews on here, we just tried to book a table for lunch for a party of 8 and got the response 'we don't cater for large groups'. They weren't willing to fit us in as two tables of four either. What a shame. Eight very disappointed customers.

Unfortunately we were fully booked and unable to accommodate any size of party.

“Not good value but tasty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

A traditional pub beside the main road outside Tideswell village with pleasant staff. The curry and rice was just that - no poppadum, chutney etc. Enough of it, tasty and the meat was good quality but the price seemed high for what you got. The place was practically empty when we went - maybe because one the pubs in the village had a curry night where we could have got two meals for what we paid for one. Maybe not as well cooked as the Anchor? - we'll try it out next time we're there. Just one real ale and that's Robinsons (my least favourite brew).
