We booked our wedding at Shottle Hall for this coming summer 18 months ago believing it to be the perfect venue for us. We attended numerous meetings with the events team at the venue, discussing our requirements and aspirations in full.
For some unknown reason the events team suddenly went radio silent and would not return calls or eamils, it soon became apparent why... They had done the unthinkable and double booked us, somehow managing to formally agree a contract with another couple despite our name being in the book first (and telling us there was no rush to sign contracts)!
To cut a very long story short the whole experience was a complete shambles and the events team were so disorganised it was embarrassing. Not one person in the evenmts team knew what the other was doing or agreeing and it was reminiscent of a Fawlty Towers sketch! I ended up contacting the owner direct who was helpful but by then the damage was done, our booking lost and the whole preparation for our wedding in ruins.
I am glad to say we have now found a much better venue, one where the staff are extremely attentive to their customers requirements. I should be thankful that Shottle Hall did double book us really as no doubt the day would have had potential for disaster otherwise.
Whilst some previous reviews on weddings at Shottle Hall are favourable I would make sure you read the less favourable too (quite a few) before making such an important decision.
