“A treat for the senses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

This was the second time I have stayed at Kegworth House; the first time was 10 years ago and I am glad to say that the standards have remained very high. The rooms are all large and individually appointed. You can tell that every lamp, every picture, every cushion has been carefully selected. The bed was large and comfortable; the linens and towels are top quality. We regretted not having a bath tub in our room (#1), but the shower had good water pressure. The entire place is spotlessly clean. Outside there is a gorgeous and spacious English garden. There's an orchard at the back and a vegetable plot, and I wondered why there weren't vegetables growing in it--or at least more herbs and vegetables. Finally, the breakfasts. The breakfasts! They hire a chef to cook your breakfast and this alone would be worth the price of your stay. There is a generous array of fruits (the best fruit salad EVER), pastries, cereals, breads, yogurts and other cold yummy things like cheeses and cold meats. The cooked full English is superb. But the chef will also make anything you like. One morning I just wanted a simple boiled egg and a slice of toast, which was served with pleasure and done to perfection. You will not regret staying at Kegworth House. It's worth the money and your time there will linger on in your memory.

A really lovely hotel. The best breakfast we have ever had cooked in front of your own eyes! Very well maintained large double room with en suite facilities. Stayed here as an overnight stop going for a holiday in the Peak District. Booked last minute and got a fabulous deal.

We stayed here as we had booked a day at Donington Race track. We booked the bridal suite (room 6) as we had just returned from our honeymoon. The room was big but warm and cosy with added luxuries like bathrobes and big fluffy towels. The bathroom was as big as the bedroom and attention to detail was clear to be seen. The staff were friendly especially the duty manager Jorgen who also makes a mean full English breakfast. Everything about this hotel is perfect would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

A lovely place with very well maintained individually designed rooms, excellent staff who are very pleasant and an outstanding breakfast. Would be a great hotel for a weekend away for a couple as the area is very nice too.

Only booked this because other local hotels were full - so glad they were as it was more than we hoped for in an overnight stay. Welcome extremely friendly and informative, beautifully presented property and an excellent breakfast - if you decide to stay remember to ask about the walled garden !

Stayed for one night in the Bridal Suite as a Birthday treat. Lovely room, very well equipped with quality bedding, bone china tea-cups & vases of fresh roses adding some real class. Soft fluffy towels & wonderfully thick dressing gowns. The bathroom is fantastic; double ended roll top bath, feature shower & an enormous dressing table around the sink unit, plentifully stocked with complimentary toiletries. Really luxurious! Access to Reeds leisure club was included with our room, a short 4 minute walk around the corner providing a gym, pool, sauna, steam & jacuzzi. Although very busy on a Saturday afternoon it was an enjoyable extra. Our room was at the front facing on to the road, so I was slightly concerned we'd get some traffic noise but not at all. In fact we had the best night sleep in a long time - very peaceful. The Cottage restaurant is a 2 minute walk away, as is a pub & Indian restaurant. We chose The Cottage & enjoyed a 4 course home-cooked meal in a friendly environment. Our chosen breakfast time was very busy & Jurgen the chef did a great job delivering freshly cooked breakfasts whilst supervising interns. The buffet selection was plentiful in choice & quality, with a lovely bowl of fruit salad as centrepiece incorporating blueberries & strawberries, not just your basic apple & melon job. We sat at the overflow table in a seperate dining room & enjoyed the company of another couple, all very pleasant. The hotel provides free WiFi which was secure & easily accessible from our room - a small table to hold a laptop on by the sofa would be a useful addition to the room. All in all a very enjoyable stay which provided a touch of luxury in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere.

Room Tip: If its a special occasion go for the Bridal Suite!
