Mary & Martha at the Swiss House made me so welcome. The property was extremely comfortable, even had DVD player in the bedroom! Breakfast was wonderful and sustained me for my days out walking in the Peaks. You could come & go as you pleased and even had a shoe rack for the muddy boots to dry out on. Nothing was too much trouble and the hosts paid attention to detail when asked for anything by guests (Mary's gorgeous granola recipe for one!) I will definitely return to the Swiss House when I next come back to Castleton - it had everything I needed and more.

Just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay. The room was spacious and confortable, the bathroom excellent. It felt as good as any hotel.
Mary and Martha were excellent hosts. We were the only guest one night next night the place was full but there was no change in the friendliness of the place. We will stay here again when we next visit castleton.

We thoroughly enjoyed our night in Swiss House B & B. Martha was a friendly & very accommodating hostess. The room was large, clean & beautifully furnished. The bathroom was a real treat - roomy, clean & fabulous plumbing - after some of the places we stayed at in the UK.
The little town of Castleton was quaint, friendly & situated in amongst some of the most beautiful scenery. We wished we could have stayed longer. We will return one day to Swiss House and the marvelous Martha.

Castleton is a very pretty village in Derbyshire's Peak District, about 15 miles from Sheffield. The Swiss House is a cosy, comfortable B & B on the main road into the village. The hosts Martha and Mary are very friendly and welcoming, with extensive local knowledge about the area. The rooms are very clean, nice furniture, comfy beds (snug duvets) with small TV's and DVD players. The bathroom had a bath rather than a shower, which is probably preferable if you are the hill walking type. There is a small bar on the ground floor with a welcoming fire. The breakfast room is bright and spacious and the food is excellent, the cooked breakfast will really set you up for the day. Last call for breakfast is 9.15am, which if you are going out for a day conquering peaks is probably about right. The whole house has a lived in feel, and I mean that as a compliment. It is friendly, unpretentious and very affordable. We'd stay there again, though I'd suggest that the rooms at the back of the house get less street noise than the one we had at the front.
