“Excellent - highly recommend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Great selection of food. Reasonably priced. Log fires were lovely and warm. Food was served quickly. A nice relaxing pub to visit if you've been walking and fancy a bite to eat. Lovely decor. Very comfy seats.

Only downside for us was that they let dogs into the pub, and not being a great fan of dogs this did put us off a little - one dog owner was letting their dog walk up and down the side of their table. The other kept their 2 dogs under control however and their dogs sat nicely under the table.

“Felt Like Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Not been for a while and regretted that at once. Super open fires, great selection of ales and hearty food. Mrs P had the mx'n match bangers and mash and I had the vegetarian pizza. I am no vegetarian nor lover of pizza, and chose out of apathy. It was delicious and Mrs P loved her nosh. It was preceeded by a gratis bowl of beautifully spiced butternut squash soup.

£23 for the food and a coffee and beer was good value to me.

Topped off with very pleasant service and a nice ambiance, we are planning a Sunday visit very soon.

“Great Pub Meal. Large portions :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Had Sunday Lunch with my girlfriend on last day of mini break to Peak District.
Wonderful hearty food was served. Had roast beef dinner which was delicious with lots of thick cut beef. Nice veg was served separately. Girlfriend had pork with scrumptious crackling.
Chances are you might need to ring a paramedic afterwards as large portions served.
Also had small portion of nachos for starter. Yummy!!

Not forgetting the large open log fires made it very welcoming and cosy.

Would definitely return for seconds. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Please try it you won't be disappointed!!

“Excellent pub grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Nice atmosphere, good range of drinks on tap and bottled, and a good variety on the menu.

The posh bangers and mash pick and mix idea was genius and very tasty, would recommend it.

Would definitely return again.
