“Very smart well presented hotel”

This is a good quality Hilton, public areas very well presented, rooms very nice and with plenty of storage. The bathroom was a bit dated if you looked close, but clean and perfectly adequate. Did not hear any road noise which was good considering its proximity to the motorway. As with all Hilton's, and certainly not the fault of this hotel, the main issue is the price of food and drink, especially as the food is adequate but nothing special. The breakfast offering was very good however. Would use this hotel again if I needed to stay in the area.

Stayed here the night before a flight from East Midlands Airport. The receptionist who checked us in was exceptionally rude and abrupt but that is the only complaint that I have about this hotel. The shuttle service to the airport was fine, very helpful driver. The room that we had was completely ourstanding and very typical of such a high end hotel like a Hilton. Having booked through holidayextras.co.uk, we were eligible for a set menu for dinner for £15 which consisted of a three course meal - how the review on here which states this is basic is completely beyond me - the meal was fantastic and great value for money.
All in all - amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone flying from East Midlands.

Sayed for a business meeting. Rooms were average. Drinks at the bar on the pricey side but what really let the hotel down was the standard of the food. Very disappointing. Having said that the breakfasts were not too bad.
Would not choose to stay here except for convenience.

Your comments are sincerely appreciated; we do have a system of menu review every couple of weeks because of a huge number of regular corporate guests who stay with us. It is interesting to note the varied feedback that we receive on our offering and while may not be what we expect all the time it is welcome.

Thank you also for mentioning the breakfast and as you rightly said this hotel is very conveniently located for our business guests, just 10 minutes from the airport and on the Motorway in the center of the 3 shires, Notts, Leics and Derby

Nice room, rip-off food and drink booked in here by a client. Rate they paid was £95.00
Room as nice enough, big and comfy. Facilities good, pool, sauna etc and staff friendly and helpful..now the rant...
£4.50 for a cappuccino. £4.20 for a pint. £15.00 for internet in your room. £5.00 for guests to park.
It was very difficult to get food which was actually cooked in the hotel. Most of the bar food and a lot of the restaurant food is bought in and re-heated. At £17.00 for a chicken tikka curry, the mark up must be off the scale. To be expected in Little Chef maybe, but this is the Hilton!
The bar staff did their apologetic best to get me a fresh meal, this involved going into the kitchen to ask the chef what was on offer.
In short this kind of over-priced food and drink is an indictment on so-called luxury chain hotels all over the world.
Raise your game Hilton.
Don't come here unless you are on some deal where food is included.

Booked this hotel as an undercover hotel for a one night stay when going on holiday. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well stocked with toiletries and tea/coffee. The pool was clean and pool towels were provided. We had our evening meal in the restaurant and again staff were great and service was fast. In the morning the airport transport was quick and easy and when we landed back at East Midlands after our holiday a member of staff was waiting for use to return us to our car. Would definitely use the Hilton again when needed.

I have stayed at many Hiltons over the past 5 years and have never reviewed any before. I felt I should review the East Midlands one as we had a very nice 1 night stay. Firstly the staff (all) were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk manager. I can't recall his name but he was on duty Wednesday the 20th at around 4pm. He was very helpful in pointing out the best dining options for us, without paying a fortune, we didn't end up eating in the restaurant as the younger kids were getting tired after using the good pool facilities. (with a lovely hot jacuzzi)

Altough under 10's eat free, 11 yrs plus have to pay full price on the set menu, which is £17, I think it would be a better idea if there was another price bracket for kids up to 15 yrs, maybe it should be half price, as for a larger family the price per head is too much. It goes from kids eating free to a massive jump of full price The kids could also be given a slightly smaller portion.
But as I said preiviously, the manager did offer us an incentive, but from a business point of view I think the full price may put some families from even looking the the restaurant.

At breakfast a very nice lady came over to give all the kids an activity pack at the table. I would definately stay here again when going to Alton Towers (about 40 mins drive away)

Overall, it was a very nice Hilton, and very good service.

We recently stayed here the night before we flew.
We have stayed at many different Hilton hotels and were not disappointed by this hotel.
The rooms are of a high standard, the food in the restaurant was fantastic and the transfer to the airport was quick and easy.
It's a shame that the collection from the airport on our return was not of such a high standard!
We called the hotel as instructed after clearing customs, we were told the minibus was at the airport waiting for us. We went to where we told he would be only to see him drive off. We again rang the hotel who said they would contact driver and see what had happened and call us back. We received no call back and had to wait another 20 minutes for the bus to return. When he did we found out that there was now too many people to fit in the bus as we had a party of 5 and there was another family of 4 including 2 young children, we were told the bus could only take 8 and some of us would have to wait for him to return again.
I agreed to let the other family go in the bus as they had 2 very young children and it was too cold to let them stand around, we also let my mother in law and father in law go as well as my father in law is in a wheelchair and should not be left standing around either.
After a few heated words with the driver and someone on reception I told them this was unacceptable and we would get a taxi and they could pay for it, eventually they agreed to this.
I can't believe a hotel chain as big as the Hilton think it acceptable to leave customers stood around at the airport for what could have been up to an hour after first contacting them. The hotel knows how many people are landing and at exactly what time, if the minibus is not big enough for everyone they should sort other transport out!
It's a shame this has happened as it had now put me off using his hotel again and I will be looking at using one of the other hotels near the airport!

At the outset please accept our apologies that your return transfer was not up to our usual standard.

We transfer very many guests to the airport and back on our very popular park and fly packages and more often than not we find that a lot of our guests are headed to the same holiday destination. This means that most of our guests would require transfers at about the same time to the airport and back. On the outward journey we plan the transfers every 20 minutes and schedule our guests so that all fit comfortably in our minibus at the allocated times. We do advise that on the return the waiting time for the bus can take up to 20 minutes as this allows for the minibus to pick everyone up in a couple of trips. When we know that there are more than 8 guests on the return trip the driver will be waiting and pick up the first few as soon as they get to the information desk and then the remaining guests would wait the predetermined 20 minutes at the information desk waiting area for the driver to get back. On occasion when we have more than 16 guests returning at the same time or we have guests with special needs who cannot wait, the drivers have been empowered to arrange taxis from the airport.

At peak times the minibus does continuous runs to the airport and back and while we do not expect our guests to wait indeterminately, we do ask that they be accommodating. This works well for everyone and allows us to keep the price of your packages low by not adding on taxi costs. I am grateful to you and our others guests for their understanding in this matter.

I do hope that this will not disuade you from staying with us again and we look forward to welcoming you back. Thank you also for mentioning the rooms and food in the restaurant.
