fantastic scenery could do more on the history of the area good pub nearby. bamford has little to offer, better to drive a few miles more to castleton which has a lot to offer.

Great for running and cycling. Different tracks around and different gradients.

“Tranquility, Beauty and Spectacular Scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

This is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Peak District. For the adventurous you can do the Derwent Watershed - 40 miles of upland fell walking. For the less adventurous you can do the walks round Ladybower calling in at the cafe/toilets at Fairholmes. You can start from the roadside car park on the A57 Snake Pass or the car park at Heatherdene on the Bamford Road.

Or on weekdays only you can travel by car to the head of the valley and park up at King's Tree and walk through woodland to the old packhorse bridge at Slippery Stones.

Perfect for walking, a picnic or just to chill out in solitude.
