I remember coming to Sudbury Hall and seeing the museum of childhood when I was a child (and going up the chimney) and now as a parent I am bringing my 5 year old daughter here.
She loved the museum, loved the chimney and many of the activities that the children can do. She loved it so much she had her mum take her back two days later for more!
The staff were really helpful and friendly.
We went at Easter and there was an Easter egg hunt and other activities for children to do in the grounds, and again my daughter loved all this.
She was less enthralled with the house itself, (although this was probably due to hunger - see below!) There is a kids activity hunt as you go round it and it really is a fantastic example of a preserved grand country house. The staff in the house itself were also very friendly and encouraging of the little ones.
They have a couple of shops on site one of which sells the most gorgeous hand made fudge.
There are home made style cakes for sale in the cafe.
We found the menu for anything more than a snack somewhat limited and the queues as lunchtime approached were terrible so we ended up not eating on site.
The weather wasn't great so we didn't explore outside much but there are small grounds and an attached church to explore.
