“Great fun and there is lots there besides.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

This is attached to Sudbury Hall which is worth a visit too. Also in the grounds is a great play park for little people. Great place for a picnic and day out.

“How have we missed this before?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

A gem of a place that we sort of went to as it was a half way meeting place. Having said that, it was beautifully thought through, constructed, presented, with plenty to see and do. We should have gone years ago while our kids were still kids! We must go back and visit the Hall someday....

“Childhood memories”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

My husband and and I visited both the Museum and the Hall yesterday
The Museum is fascinating and beautifully done!
Once again it is the Staff at many properties which let things down and not the properties themselves
The Staff on the Reception in the Museum seemed totally indifferent to us...we arrived at 11am, so it had only just opened and a smile or two would have been nice!
On the other hand the staff in the Museum itself were very friendly and informative which made our visit lovely!
The Café is very good and the lady who served us very friendly
A lovely visit!

“Brilliant day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Had a great day out on Easter Monday with party of 14 (grandparents to 6 month olds). Did the Easter egg hunt which was fab as 1 for older and 1 for younger kids. Also outside play area is excellent set in the woods. If you want long walks this is not the NT place for you. The outside with lake was perfect for us with young kids but NT Calke Abbey is a better place for longer walks.
Childhood museum was brill for all ages and has Victorian school lesson which 11 & 9 year old found great. As adults we thoroughly enjoyed it and for reviewers to object to too many children....come on this is a museum of childhood!
Overall a great day out...only criticism is that don't need NT membership to get into car park, playground nor grounds...only for childhood museum and house (didn't go in house so can't comment).

“too many children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

First of all never visit in the school holidays too many children, and too noisy. However, the exhibits were very interesting and it is very worrying to see toys we played with in a museum. In fact worse than that, there are some toys that my children played with in there and they date from the '80's. They had several toys such as diablo, jacks etc which the children could play with. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves going down memory lane
