“Great food:-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Just stayed in the area for new year, and Ashbourne is a great place to visit. Whilst here we had lunch at Bramhalls, the food was excellent and the staff were lovely. Two days later we were back with our children and grand kids, having a month old baby the staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for my daughter. Again the food and service were excellent.
We will be back in May :-)

“Quick bite to eat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We stopped off here for a light snack after an afternoon of walking and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and size of portions. Never been to Ashbourne before and have never heard of this cafe but can completely recommend both the town and the cafe!

“I preferred the previous owners.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We tried this cafe when it was first under new management and it we didn't enjoy it, although i cant quite remember why, and there were better places so we hadn't returned until just this week because our usual was closed.

We went in specifically for a full breakfast and we arrived at 10:55am when they stop serving breakfasts at 11am so as we entered we asked if they were still serving breakfast. The lady was looked at the clock and became panic stricken and said we'd have to tell her what we wanted now so we hadn't even been seated or looked at the menu when we had to place our order, and she ran off into the kitchen.

We found ourself a table and felt really rather old surrounded by what looked like college students sitting at each one of the other snake skin printed tables. It did feel like a student gathering place.

The same lady came back out of the kitchen and she was followed out by another women shaking her head who marched over to the clock on the wall and moved the minute hand up to the 12 to make it state 11am. I told my husband who had his back to the wall and he thought I was joking, unfortunately I was not. It seemed rather deliberate and rude because it wasn't 11am.

The breakfasts arrived and the portion seemed rather stingy for the price, but it was well cooked and tasted nice - except for the additional piece of black pudding on the plate that was of a different variety and tasted strange and almost alcoholic.

The tea was horrible and tasted like paper and the orange juice was served in a glass that was too large for the serving.

I don't think that we will be returning when you can get a much more affordable breakfast just across the road or a similar quality and price but with much friendlier service at Cafe Impromtu just down the road or Denstone Hall Farm Shop.

“Fabulous Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

We have visited this cafe before, but only for coffee at a brief stop-off in Ashbourne. Today, we had much more time and so decided to stay for lunch. It was extremely busy when we got inside, but a very helpful customer said they were about to leave and so we took over his table. We weren't terribly hungry, as we had had a large breakfast, so we asked if we could share a sandwich. They were quite happy for us to do this and the waitress couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. Coffee was excellent and so was the sandwich, which was quite substantial. We couldn't manage a cake, but they looked absolutely delicious - maybe next time. By the way, love the decor!

“Restful and calm place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

This Deli & Café in the heart of Ashbourne is a pure delight. The menu is full of excellent choices of sandwiches, soups, delicious cakes. Inside the atmosphere is restful with a calm ambience. The staff is great very friendly and make you feel welcome as soon you inside. A great place to go with friends, girls friends, boyfriends, etc. that's just what you need after a busy time shopping around Ashbourne, definitely going back again. A visit to the Deli is a must, we'll done.
