“Very, very pleasant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2014 via mobile

We arrived to take advantage of the early bird offer we'd scoped out which gave 15% off two courses. This made the value exceptional. The food was very well prepared and was full of flavour. I had a trout which was boned well and delicious. Portion size was spot on with the extra vegetables. We passed on the starter and decided to have dessert. They were also delicious! I had half a lemon merengue cheesecake and half a tiramisu as we felt like sharing. No complaints, couldn't fault it at all. Brilliant service. I wish I'd tried the bread as that looked nice wen I was spying on the next table and their starters. I would say an extra ale on the bar would be appreciated as they only had London Pride. The menu selection was food the accomplished home cook would like to be able to cook at home, but without the fuss or washing up! For the price (about £10 a main, £4.50 a pud) I think this is excellent value. I'll definitely be coming here again

“Cheerful calm and caring staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2014

A lovely calm friendly place to eat, we arrived late and stressed, were put in a warm spot by the fire, there was a peaceful atmosphere, the staff were kind and took lots of trouble even though it was nearly the end of the evening. Their kindness made it a great experience.

“Unexpectedly delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

Both the food and the beer at 'The Royal Oak' was outstanding. Despite being a large group, the service was excellent. Highly impressed and would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

“Not what we expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2014 via mobile

When we walked into the pub, we were a little nervous as it looked tidy but a little outdated and we were worried that maybe the food would not be up to much. How wrong we were. We had starters and then sundays roasts and the food was lovely. The roast potatos and gravy were particularly good. We were so impressed with the value too - £12.50 for two courses for food that really is lovely. The waiting lady was so attentive too. Really glad we booked. This is a real hidden gem

“Pleasant staff, good service and excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2014

We arrived just before service finished and were able to be served. The staff were welcoming without being over the top and spoiling our dining. The starters were good and the main course excellent. The prices are good considering the quality of the food. We would return without hesitation.
