“Attentive staff and clean rooms with a hearty breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

Just stayed at the hotel for one night. Great location for visiting the northern lakes and Whitehaven. The reception staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and perfect for an overnight stay. Beds were a bit hard and an extra pillow would have been ideal. Restaurant was good but could have done with a better choice of local `ales' to accompany the meal.
All in all a great hotel/motel to stay for one or two nights. Attentive staff and clean rooms with a hearty breakfast.

Hello Mr Major,

Thank you for review of our hotel following your stay, which, I'm pleased to note, you enjoyed.

I will most certainly take a look in the room you stayed in as there should have been spares in the wardrobe - I too like a good pillow when sleeping away from home so rest assured this is something I will look into.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the breakfast but also sympathise about the lack of local ales to accompany our restaurant. This is something we have looked into quite frequently over the years but sadly do not have enough cellar capacity to accommodate everything we would like to offer.

Once again, thanks for your comments and hopefully look forward to seeing you again - perhaps to test the new pillows!

Regards
Caroline Hughes

Have just stayed at this hotel with other members of the family whilst attending a family funeral. At times for obvious reasons not in best frame of minds but the staff from the chambermaid, receptionist, waiting and bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us and all our requests. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Would return but hopefully next time in happier circumstances.

I would definitely return. The personal attention, friendliness and efficiency of the staff added to the high standards of catering make it a "must."

We stayed her in October 2008 and have just stayed here again for one night on Saturday. We stayed in room #5 - coincidentally - the same as last time! The room is lovely, really ideal for my me, husband and our two small children, (2yrs & 5yrs.) However, I must comment on the position of the kettle on the fixed shelf and the lack of plug socket for it, we had to unplug the telly and stand guard whilst it boiled, then move it out of reach of the children. Considering this is a family room, some thought with an emphasis on safety needs to go into relocating the kettle. This in no way impaired our stay though. We dined in the restaurant and found the whole experience great! The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was superb and fantastic value, (the asparagus risotto is beautiful.) Breakfast the next morning was good too. It's an ideal base for my family when we're visiting relatives in the North Lakes. We booked via Laterooms and got the room and breakfast for £70 - again, great value for money. ''We're happy customers who will return!''

Room Tip: Lovely views from room number 5!

Can't understand any of the negative comments in some of the reviews. We spent 2 nights here and loved it. We had a really well presented & comfortable room and enjoyed great service. All at a bargain weekend rate. Can't fault anything.
