“Beautiful hotel; wonderful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

We had a great stay here for two nights on the Travelzoo deal - fabulous value for money. The room was sumptuous; the staff couldn't have done more for us; the surroundings were stunning; and the food was of the highest quality.

The rating would have been 'excellent' had it not been for the fact our room was above the function suite and we found ourselves reluctant listeners to a wedding disco on the Saturday night. We like the Black Eyed Peas as much as the next person but, having worn ourselves out on long walks during the day, hadn't bargained on having the room vibrating to the thudding bass of 'I've Got A Feeling' and others beyond midnight. However, on check-out we were told there would be no weekend surcharge because of the inconvenience - a much-appreciated gesture.

Would definitely recommend it to others - just check your room's not directly over the function suite!

Great value travelzoo deal, 2 nights B and B for 2 in a fab 4 star country hotel for £99. Great location and handy restaurant close by, in a fantastic location overlooking the Solway Firth. Beautiful surroundings and gardens.

Recently stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is set in nice gardens with a view across the Firth to Scotland. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast and the service was excellent. In a good location for getting out and about to the western lakes as well as coastal areas, such as, Whitehaven and St Bees. We really enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with this hotel.

Although a short stay we were made to feel most welcome even though we did not arrive until 11.30pm, after a sound and comfortable sleep in a first class room with all the amenities, we enjoyed a welcoming breakfast and were well looked after by the staff who were friendly and efficient in the service. The choice was comprehensive and I can fully recommend the scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toast.
The owner who is hands on, was in reception, a positive and enthusiastic gentleman with plenty of time to give advise about the area. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

When I first entered the grounds, not only the location but also the presentation of the hotel was beautiful. Very clean and well decorated with flowers with ample parking space situated within the outdoor garden area. The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly during the whole stay. Breakfast and restaurant times were explained and location to the room (Room 21) were clear.

The room had modern amenities' (along with Wi-Fi throughout) it was nice and cosy, along with a beautiful view of the garden and lots of sun light. The bed was one of the most comfy I have ever slept in while on travels. For breakfast, a staff member showed me to my table and brought drinks in a fairly large tea pot (which is good, plenty of tea!) and nice stack of mixed toast. I chose the Eggs benedict which was lovely and the next morning I tried the scrambled egg with salmon on brioche. For the restaurant on the evening, I ordered the three course meal Starter: locally sourced smoked salmon, main: smoked trout with bak choi, desert: cheese board) and the food was professionally cooked (well worth the £30) but a side of potatoes/vegetables as an extra side option for £2.50 would have been nice.

At departure, I was asked if everything was okay and I explained how it everything as fine but because there was a wedding reception on the evening (and I wanted an early night due to a long journey back home the next day) I was unable to go to sleep till after the reception had ended due to some noise (to be expected of course at a reception). Although it was a minor issue, the manager insisted a 30% discount on the food AND reduced my room rate by £40 for the night!! Which was a very nice gesture and for that, it has been the best re-imbursement from any hotel that I have ever stayed at.

I am confident to say that during your stay here, you will be treat in a friendly manner and have a comfortable experience. If you have any sort of problem, they will without a doubt do their best to accommodate you. A++ experience.

My husband and I have just returned from the Lake District having spent three nights in this lovely hotel. Couldn't fault this hotel in any way. It is beautifully decorated, clean and exceptionally comfortable. All looks recently modernised. We had a very warm welcome and directed to our room. Lovely large comfortable room and bathroom with great shower. We had dinner in the hotel on the first evening and chose from the three course menu. I had smoked salmon starter followed by the pressed pork with mustard mash and creamed leeks. For dessert I chose the sticky toffee pudding. My husband had a mushroom and goats cheese starter followed by duck breast, read cabbage and dauphinois potatoes. For dessert black forest roulade. The food was all so delicious...Our compliments to the chef!

We tried a local restaurant on the second night but returned for dinner on our last night as the food here takes alot to beat. Breakfasts are very good too.

All the staff were very polite and service was excellent at all times. Definately on our list as a favourite and will certainly look forward to another stay. Thank you Hunday Manor for a lovely relaxing stay.

We enjoyed a 2 day B&B break at this Hotel, our stay was very comfortable and the breakfasts were wonderful. Service was good at breakfast and we didn't have time to fit in dinner at the Hotel as we were exploring the lake District , however dinner was a bit expensive at £29.00 .
The Hotel was exceptionally clean and well presented. Beds comfortable, in fact all 4 of us enjoyed the hotel stay immensely.
