“Low level walk through the lakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

I did the Cumbria Way in May 2013 in 5 days using a B&B in Ulverston, 3 youth hostels and one camping barn. The mainly low level footpath has some rocky areas which makes it feel wilder than some of the national trails, so I would recommend wearing good footwear. Because there are few way markers, and they are often very discreet, you will need to be able to navigate. I was told by a local search & rescue team member, that people often get lost in parts of the Cumbria Way. There is a refuge hut in the Northern Fells, but apart from this there is no shelter between New Dungeon Ghyll and Stonethwaite or between Skiddaw House and Nether Row. I used the Harvey strip map for the Cumbria Way and the LDWA GPS coordinates.

“Wonderful trail along Lake Coniston (Coniston Water)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

It was a beautiful foggy day with muted colors in the autumn distance, like a Chinese painting. We took the ferry from Sunny Bank just off the A508 to Coniston itself, had a great pub lunch at the Black Bull, then walked back to our car at Sunny Bank, about 3.5 miles. It was a bit tiring, with all the ups and downs, roots and rocks, but beautiful scenery, and benches to rest on and admire it.

“The Cumbria Way - a great walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We left the organisation to the trekking specialists Wandering Aengus (WA), based in Ulverston. They organised the overnights and the maps etc. The walk is 120km between Ulverston and Carlisle in North West England, in the Lake District National Park. We did the walk in late June 2013 and the weather was good, dry, not too hot, except for one day when it rained rained!

The walk is not too difficult, about 20-25 km a day, mostly through pasture land, very well signposted. The arrangements by WA were first class except perhaps their mapping information, e found a guide by Padd Dillon to be much more accurate and informative.

Overall a wonderful weeks walking, except for the rainy day. Recommended.

“love walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

While visiting with my wife Ulverston Cumbria we were invited by friends for walk a special country walk with so called kiss gates. Anyone regarding the tradition had to go to other side of this gates with obligation kiss his wife or bride. The back way was the same, so you could kiss your bride twice. This path walk was a long about 5 miles out of Ulverston Center among green trees and water stream.
We were very excited and happy with this tradition and recomend this place to any adult couple boy and girl or husband and wife, who need rest and love while in nature walk,
