I was travelling alone to visit friends and this hotel was recommended by them. What a gem I found! Sitting on the coast, on the edge of the pretty village of Baycliff, this hotel and restaurant has been refurbished to an excellent standard by the owners Andrea and Ian Kelly, the style and furnishings reflecting it's 30's origins. The hospitality, food and service, however, were all excellent, nothing was too much trouble, even to finding me a toothbrush! The rooms were spotless and comfortable, with panoramic views of Morecombe Bay from every room. The varied menu of food was tasty and freshly cooked, served by friendly and pleasant staff. (The sticky toffee pud was the best I've ever had). You can walk across the fields to the sea or catch a bus outside, which takes you to either Ulverston or Barrow, where you can change to the train and explore further afield. As a lone traveller it's nice to know you've found somewhere you feel safe and looked after and that's just how I felt.
