“First time staying in Staveley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

A very nice, clean place with fabulous views. We'll no doubt return to Staveley and when we do we'll stay here again. I wouldn't normally choose a room that didn't have en suite (I was aware of this when booking), but this place was so tip-top that I'd have no qualms about staying in the same room again. The view from the private bathroom (and bathtub!) was amazing. Ted and Heather are genuinely friendly people and cooked up a lovely breakfast including egg from their own chickens and some beans on request!

Room Tip: Be aware that the king size room isn't en suite but you do get a private bathroom right next doo...

We were really lucky to get a room here especially on a bank holiday weekend. We stayed for 2 nights during which I can't praise Ted and Heather enough. They went out of their way to accommodate us including a delicious vegetarian breakfast. This is what staying in a guest house is all about, amazing experience.

The location is superb, about 4 miles from Windermere centre so it is so peaceful. Would definitely go back to stay!

Room Tip: There are two rooms, one has an en-suite and the other a seperate (private) bathroom.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst enjoying some cycling in the Lakes.

The room was spotless and looked exactly as it did on website. The bed was perhaps a little soft for us - but this is personal choice.
The view from the window was fab - right across the Lake District

Breakfast lived up to expectations and we more than ate our fill from the wide menu choice.

Heather and Ted were very welcoming & helpful - tea and cake on arrival, advice on the quickest routes to get around, use of their hose to wash down our muddy bikes and a safe place to store them!

The B&B is only 5 minutes walk from the village centre and we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Eagle and Child.

It is a lovely place to stay for couples wanting a quiet break - no kids no pets!

We'll definitely head back next year.

Stayed at Ravenbank for two nights to break our journey back to Dorset and what a great stay.
Heather made us a welcome cup of tea when we arrived and showed us to our room, which was lovely. Very homely and the views were stunning.

Breakfast on both mornings started with a very good choice of cereals, fruit and yogurts to start followed by a cooked breakfast with items of your choice and toast.

Ravenbank is approx a five minute walk into the village itself where you can find the Hawkshead Brewery and the Eagle and Child pub, we also recommend both of these too.

Heather and Ted were great hosts and made our stay an enjoyable one, we will certainly recommend Ravenbank to our friends and relatives.

Thank you and we hope to be back.

This is a gem of a place...immaculately clean and well presented. Amazing views across the fells and a fabulous location just above the village. The room was of a very high standard in every aspect. Huge comfortable bed with crisp white cotton sheets. The lovely couple who run it obviously care a great deal about design and style and all the little touches were very evident. Breakfast was delicious and like being in a hotel. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was immaculately presented and had some wonderful finishing touches including tissues on the bed side cabinet, a hot water bottle for those chillier nights and homemade cookies with the tea & coffee facilities.

The breakfast menu was varied and very tasty - using free range eggs (from their own chickens) and Ted & Heather were great company.

The B&B is at the top of a drive which is a little steep but not so much to make it difficult to walk up - and which results in some great views from the house. The B&B offers ample parking and is beautifully maintained.
