“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2012

Stayed at Ravenbank for two nights to break our journey back to Dorset and what a great stay.
Heather made us a welcome cup of tea when we arrived and showed us to our room, which was lovely. Very homely and the views were stunning.

Breakfast on both mornings started with a very good choice of cereals, fruit and yogurts to start followed by a cooked breakfast with items of your choice and toast.

Ravenbank is approx a five minute walk into the village itself where you can find the Hawkshead Brewery and the Eagle and Child pub, we also recommend both of these too.

Heather and Ted were great hosts and made our stay an enjoyable one, we will certainly recommend Ravenbank to our friends and relatives.

Thank you and we hope to be back.

This is a gem of a place...immaculately clean and well presented. Amazing views across the fells and a fabulous location just above the village. The room was of a very high standard in every aspect. Huge comfortable bed with crisp white cotton sheets. The lovely couple who run it obviously care a great deal about design and style and all the little touches were very evident. Breakfast was delicious and like being in a hotel. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was immaculately presented and had some wonderful finishing touches including tissues on the bed side cabinet, a hot water bottle for those chillier nights and homemade cookies with the tea & coffee facilities.

The breakfast menu was varied and very tasty - using free range eggs (from their own chickens) and Ted & Heather were great company.

The B&B is at the top of a drive which is a little steep but not so much to make it difficult to walk up - and which results in some great views from the house. The B&B offers ample parking and is beautifully maintained.

Great place to stay and very friendly, excellent views from our room and great breakfast.
We went into staveley and ate at the local pub (there is only one) and had a lovely meal only a 5 min walk too.

A cosy bolthole on a very wet May weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for my friendly hosts - they coped with my horrendously early Sunday morning departure by giving me the run of their kitchen! Great views from all the rooms, and only the sounds of the birds and the sheep in evidence. Lovely spacious rooms with super comfy beds and duvets to wallow in.

Stavely is an undiscovered gem of a village, with many artisan shops and workshops scattered throughout. Great walks on the doorstep, a village church boasting some of the best Willam Morris stained glass (next to Troutbeck!), Wilf's cafe, the microbrewery, the Eagle and Child pub - and only 10 mins drive to Windermere.

Perfect!

Room Tip: All the rooms have great views over the fells

I stayed for only 1 night but I would certainly like to return to explore the area. The guest house meets the highest standards in facilities, service and cleanliness. After a hard day, I was welcomed with a pot of tea and the owners went out of their way to provide me with local information and advice. The room was quiet, well equipped and the bed very comfortable. Rooms are provided with a refreshment tray - tea / coffee and a kettle for refreshment any time. Breakfast quality and choice is second to none with a wide range of drinks, cereals, fruit and traditional 'full English' foods. The owners are very helpful and approachable. The guest house provides excellent value for money. I will certainly stay here again when in the area. Location advice is very clear and easy to follow.

Room Tip: Any room will provide good value.
