We are a local couple who decided at very short notice to get married (7 weeks notice to be precise). We approached Julie the Owner and Chris the Head Chef and Manager and asked if they could help us? Instantly, Julie said yes and Chris asked us what we wanted on our Menu. From start to finish their were no issues whatsoever. We had 42 attend our wedding breakfast with 120 attend the evening celebrations. This wasn't an issue
We had a 3 course meal with coffee & mints to finish, with 4 choices in each. We had wine and choice of drinks with the meal and were allowed to bring in our own sparkling champagne for the toasts with just £3 corkage charged per bottle. In the Evening we had hot food, Bacon butties, Sausage butties, big fat chips, pizza and sausage rolls. The food on the day was out of this world. Every plate which had hot food came out piping hot straight from the kitchen, presented beautifully and tasting exquisite. The evening food was timed just perfectly for those who had eaten at the meal and those who only attended the evening celebrations. Perfect alcohol/stodge food for when your drinking.
As you can see from the photographs the dinning room, which was where we had our wedding breakfast was laid out spectacularly and looked totally amazing on the day. The staff were so well presented, polite and extremely helpful.
We had a bar extension to 2am, with a singer/DJ until 1am. Drinks were very reasonable and the standard of service was impeccable. The hygiene across the whole pub was unquestionable as it was immaculate.
I stayed in the Hotel the night before the wedding with several members of my family and left from the Hotel to get married. The night before we had a lovely family meal where their was 9 of us and the standard then was exactly the same. All dishes came out at the same time and the portions were plentiful.
I stayed in the Haweswater Room the night before and night of our wedding and it was sumptuous. Freshly painted, sumptuous heavy curtains with a Queen size bed and on-suite shower room. With large TV, sofa and ample storage & hanging space. Morning breakfast was just perfect on both days, the day after the wedding the staff allowed all our guests to have a late breakfast of 10am which meant that no-one was able to rush and could have a lay-in. Breakfast was plentiful and you could have whatever you wanted.
All-in-all a totally fantastic couple of days, with excellent service from all at the Greyhound. We will most definitely book further functions there and eat there.
Thanks Julie, Chris & All the Staff xxxxx
