“Relaxing experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Stayed for 2 nights with a friend for spa. The rooms, service, restaurant and spa are perfect. You find cosy little corners everywhere. check the seats next to the fire place in the evening. The views across the river and bridge are stunning and the place is perfect to start off for hikes in the lakes. The massage was one of the best ever. Absoluely recommend! Perfect place for a relaxing week end.

This hotel ticked all the boxes for our mini-moon lin September. The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant and bar are excellent (the cocktails are particularly good!), the room was clean and modern and and the hotel in general is beautifully decorated with a really relaxing, but luxurious feel.

I highly recommend this hotel for couples, friends or families. It gives and extra special lift when holidaying in this beautiful part of the world.

If I was a hotel I would be The Swan. I loved staying here. We checked out, went to our next hotel and were so disappointed with it after The Swan, we checked out & then checked back in to The Swan. And we then stayed for an extra night!
Love the staff, love the decor, love the food, love the spa. No pretence, no stuffy rules - a really laid-back vibe. Amazing breakfasts, wonderful evening meals, helpful but not over-bearing staff, lovely uniforms, comfy beds, good linen, fluffy towels, amazing wallpaper and fireplaces.
Loved it all.
And I never write reviews.
Bravo Swan: I love you.

We have just returned from another enjoyable weekend at this wonderful hotel. The hotel is very welcoming with plenty of parking space, rooms are nicely furnished with comfy beds.
Food is excellent in the bar and restaurant and good value for money. Breakfasts are delicious.
What really makes this hotel special though is the staff, they could not do enough for us.
I recommend this hotel and will be returning again soon.

We visit the Swan about every 2 weeks when in the Lakes and find it a fantastic venue for food & drink, the staff are always freindly and the place is buzzing, The Swan is always buzzing and has a real atmosphere. The decor is very nice and always looks clean. I would recommend to anybody.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding (on the premises) and it more than met all expectations. The room, which overlooked the river, was large, well furnished and extremely comfortable (even the pillows). Always pleased to find tea/coffee facilities and as an added convenience, there was an iron/ironing board tucked away in the wardrobe. As for the bathroom, it was sizeable and modern. The only niggle was the very low water pressure for the bath, although the shower was fine.

The reception/lobby was quite stylish and the spa looked pretty well-equipped, although unfortunately we didn't find time to use it. The breakfasts were absolute quality and the bar, which is inn-style, had a good range of local draught beers, wine and spirits. There was also an extremely comfortable lounge with an open fire.

As for the wedding itself, there is a beautiful set of function rooms (with bar) and private dining room upstairs, all with great natural light.

Service was friendly and efficient in all respects, although as it does seem to be a bit of a wedding factory, the night porter appeared to work harder than anyone, sorting out drinks and taxis for all and sundry once the bar had closed.

All in all, the place fitted the bill perfectly for a wedding and it would have been equally as good just for a short break, with the only provisos that there are always likely to be wedding guests wandering around and some might prefer somewhere a little smaller for a romantic weekend away.

Spent 1 night here in a standard room which was comfortable if a little basic. The exterior of the hotel looks ordinary but the lobby and public areas are modern and quite stylish. The more casual bar area was very busy and noisy with lots of families when we went for lunch but we were more than happy with our soup and sandwiches. We had dinner in the restaurant where the service was a little slow but the food was good. The hotel is very family friendly with a better-than-average kids' menu including breakfast. Our 8 year old found a magazine on her bed when we checked-in and she also got milk and a cookie after dinner. There's a nature trail around the hotel tailored for kids which she really enjoyed. I would recommend getting a deluxe room for a even better experience.
