“Lakeside Hotel - Ticks All the Boxes”

Where do we start? WOW

From the moment we arrived outside reception the service was unbelievable. One of the receptionists (Seema I think her name was) greeted us at our car, opening my wife's door and helping out with our luggage. We were taken into reception and promptly checked in, leaving our car keys for the staff to park in the opposite car park. Our bags were sent to our room while we were shown round all of the facilities in the hotel; the cosy bar, the brasserie, the restaurant, the conservatory and finally the spa (gym and swimming pool included there).

We were then taken up to our room on the 2nd floor which overlooked the lake - what a view! Two nice comfortable chairs and table in the alcove window looking out over the lake, just so peaceful and relaxing. The room was spacious, clean and bright - although the matress was a little soft for my liking the bed was still fairly comfortable.

The evening meal in the restaurant was beautiful. My wife and I sat in the conservatory beforehand and ordered a couple of drinks. They were brought to us along with the restaurant menu and some olives and almonds to nibble on while making our decision. Our order was taken in the conservatory - a nice touch as sometimes an evening meal like that can seem a drawn out process, but with relaxing before going to the table it just seemed flawless. The food was spectacular and perfectly cooked, well presented and thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast in the morning was as good, plenty to choose from the menu and you can even do a "create your own", but there was definitely enough choice - including full cooked, continental, cereals, fruits and yoghurt.

Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff, from the reception staff, to the bar and waiting staff and also in the spa. Staff were polite, friendly and approachable - this made our stay even better as we knew we could ask anything and they would do their utmost to help out.

The facilities at the hotel were excellent too, the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were great ways to relax. The pool was open from 7am to 7pm so there was plenty time to take a dip and chill out; and even better there only seemed to be a couple of people using it each time so it felt like it was your own private relaxation area.

We can't praise this hotel - and staff - highly enough. We will definitely be returning at some point in the future, that is without a doubt.

Doormen with umbrellas welcomed us as we checked in during a traditional Lake District downpour. The front office staff were really helpful and nice and we had a very cosy room (not a very large room but we also paid accordingly - we got a reduction for a smaller room which was the last available that day). We had a good dinner in the hotel, and enjoyed swimming overlooking Lake Windermere on a blustery rainy day. The facilities are really nice. We found it a good grown up place to stay, without a lot of young children - it's not a resort in that sense. The sitting room is a nice place to spend time.

one of my best experiences. extremely beautiful location. Victorian building architecture. very helpful staff. excellent view of lake. great restaurant. very tasty food/drinks. extravagant lobby . free and hassle free internet in the room and lobby. relaxing high tea in the lawn overseeing lake. free car parking.
convenient ferry ride from the hotel.
a bit far from station by public transport, but very convenient if you have car.
one of the best experiences i've had and i'll plan to revisit

Room Tip: ask for lake side view (30 pounds more)

This hotel is in a stunning location, overlooking the lake. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and willing to please. The food is excellent and I would advise where you can to go for the option to have dinner included in your hotel package as it is great value. The spa and pool area (includes steam room and sauna) are very relaxing. We would definately stay here again and would rate this as one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

After getting married in April me and the new wife got a gift from my parents and brother to go and stay at the lakeside hotel and wasn't really expecting to be much but I couldn't of been more wrong, it was fantastic the service is 10/10 and everyone seemed so happy to help, the views are stunning and we really felt pampered and well looked after so this hotel will most definitely becoming a treat every year for our anniversary.

The trip was lovely & the price achieved through octopus travel, made things like the £4.25 pots of tea a little easier to handle after the wedding costs!

The hotel kindly gave us a lovely country house room with its own private garden, even though we paid around £150.00 a night including breakfast which is a definite bargain at the Lakeside!

Breakfasts where awesome, we ate way too much.

We had one night in the main restaurant which didn't fail to impress. Its a must if your staying at this hotel.

My only gripe was that we where told that if we just had once course from the £30.00 set menu (3 courses) in the brasserie it would be 'discounted', the discount was only £10.00 which we found out after the meal.... My recommendation is to just take advantage of the 3 courses as the food is awesome & worth the price when doing the full meal!

We will probably go back for a Cream Tea / Day visit... bit I think its just that bit too much on the room prices normally & then we you had on your extras you can easily spend a fortune.

We do love the hotel though and recommend to anyone who likes to splash the cash! :-)

Room Tip: Be Polite and ask nicely for a upgrade!

We visited the Hotel for lunch over the May Day weekend and sat outside in the garden overlooking the Lake. Having moored at the Hotel's mooring and because it was getting well into the afternoon, we were committed to taking lunch at the hotel or doing without.

Despite our amazement at the prices shown on the menu, we stuck with it for the reasons outlined and the anticipation that the fare was going to be something a little special. The amazement turned to nothing short of anger when we sampled the fare. We unanimously agreed that prices charged for the food produced was nothing short of a complete ' rip off ' and we were annoyed with ourselves for not leaving rather than remaining and being taken advantage of.

The fare consisted of risotto, sausage and mash, hot pot, open sandwiches and the like at prices in the £15 to £17 range. The risotto was very poor and the portion wouldn't have fed a child, likewise the hot pot. I had 2 sausage and a couple of tablespoons of mash. 2 rounds of 6 pints and 6 single plates of food came to about £160!!

I have never felt the compunction to write a review previously but i just had to write this account of what was agreed unanimously to be our worst ever lunch experience and I am sure we will all look back on it in time with a smile on our faces when we recall how we were made fools of.
