“It was lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

The breakfasts are individually made, the biscuits, bread, and jams are homemade: this is one of the last remaining genuine family-run businesses around. We had to get used to a smaller bed than the one we have, but it was a double so my hubbie and I couldn't complain about that! Lovely location and friendly hosts.

Stayed here with my partner for one night after Flookburgh Steam Gathering
It was very clean, well appointed and does an excellent breakfast
The couple that own it, are real " salt of the earth " people, I would not hesitate to recommend it & them, we will definitely be going back, it knocks the spots of other so called 5 star accomodation in the area
Note, it has no bar or lounge ( which wasn't a problem for us ) although there are a couple of hotels with non residents bars within staggering distance nearby

We had a lovely stay at the guest house. It was clean, modern decor and a lovely breakfast. A good stay for couples, at an excellent price!

Stayed at the Lakes End Guest House as going to Cartmel Races. Only a 15min drive. Lovely place, incredibly clean, very nice rooms and nice breakfast.

Excellent value for money - Woud recommend anyone to stay there.

Stayed in the twin room - Bigland - With my husband and son - Plenty of space.

We arrived here for a friends wedding at a nearby hotel. The welcome was warm and the room offered to us was clean and had tea/coffee making supplies.
We were located on the ground floor.
Cannot comment on the breakfast as we were a little hungover, however the owners did check by gently tapping on the door to see if we wanted anything.

We have just come back from a weekend stay at the Lakes End guest house. We booked here as we were attending a wedding at the Swan hotel, a 5 min walk from the Band B.
The owner was great and accomodating and left you to your own devices. The beds were lovely and comforatable and was one of the best nights stay ever. the rooms were lovely and the added extras such as a haridryer were great. The breakfast was great my only complaint was women only get 1 eggs compared to men get 2.
Wiould defianlty recomend this place.

Stayed 3 nights in room four. Although generally clean did require dusting in places and the premises are ready for a makeover particularly with the furniture but generally a good place to stay.

Pros
Frank the proprietor friendly and helpful (did not meet his wife}
Good breakfast

Cons
The dark decor made the room a bit dingy and the very dark coloured lampshades severely restricted the light output particularly with the bedside lamp shade which made it barely possible to be able to read in bed.
A minor point is the lack of a soap rack in the shower making the floor the only possible place to put anything down.
Plumbing in other parts of the house sometimes a bit noisy.
I have not recommended the property as I never recommend anything due to people having different expectations but I personally would stay again.
