“spoilt rotten again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

My second stay here with my partner and again absolutely no complaints. Stayed here 2 nights b&b this time in Low Fell room in the main house complete with slipper bath and lovely views. Cream tea on arrival in adjoining tea rooms, complete with wood burning stove. All v cosy. Spent late eve in hot tub in gardens enjoying a glass or two of Prosecco after a lovely walk in cockermouth in afternoon followed by tea at nearby wheatsheaf pub. V enjoyable full cooked breakfast both mornings in breakfast room. Lots to do in the area with cockermouth and Keswick all in easy reach. Had a quick walk round New house farms gardens, said hello to the horses before having to leave for home. Hazel is the most natural charming down to earth person you could meet who you immediately feel you have known for ages. Nothing seems too much trouble. We will definitely be back to try out one of the other rooms.

Room Tip: Take your pick - all rooms are superior quality.

Myself and my partner stayed at this guest house over the weekend and had a lovely and relaxing stay. The house has loads of character and is set within an old 17th century barn. The furnishings and fittings are of a very high standard and I really liked the attention to detail with lovely handmade soaps and white dressing gowns. The four poster bed was huge and very comfortable and we had a lovely spacious bathroom with rolltop bath. The owner is very friendly and staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a nice soak in the outdoor hottub, which is surrounded by beautiful hills and scenery. There are also several walks nearby but since I was just over 7 months pregnant and with a broken toe I was unable to attempt this, but just being there was enough. I look forward to going back and doing some hiking after the baby is born.

Enjoyed our first visit - beautiful home and such a genuine warm welcome. Tea and scones on arrival in front of a lovely roaring wood fire in a very cosy lounge which was so nicely decorated. Just perfect.
Would not hesitate to recommend to all our friends and family. Thank you Hazel !

We stayed 2 nights at New House Farm and had a wonderful time. A very warm welcome from Hazel. Cream tea on arrival beside a huge open log fire. Our room was beautiful with such a comfortable bed and a bathroom with a double air-bath. The lounge was very homely and it was wonderful having no TV's around, Bliss! We used the hot tub, relaxing while looking at the delightful scenery. A truley memorable stay. Hazel was the perfect host and will be booking again. I didnt get chance to use the tea room which was part of the farm, but I will on my return. Thanks Hazel for an awesome 2 days of being waited on in such warm and welcoming environment. Stayed on a Living Social deal so this was a very good value trip. We got a very warm welcome with scones and tea in front of the fire in the lounge. Our room, Swinside was large and clean with an enormous comfy bed and a very impressive shower. The high point for me was sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine looking at the fantastic scenery. Breakfast was lovely and eaten in the beautiful environment of the dining room with its open fire and pretty silver ware. This is like the home you want but can't be bothered with. Access to a TV somewhere on the property would be nice (we had to wait until we got home to watch the final episode of Broadchurch) but otherwise the peaceful environment was a very welcome change to city life.

Room Tip: I am sure all rooms are lovely but the ones we saw all had slightly different facilities re type of...

Picturesque drive to the farm, there is plenty of parking space on gravel, warm welcome from Hazel with a blazing fire and delicious home made scones and tea .We stayed in the Old Dairy which is totally private and peaceful. The bedroom was spacious and had a queen size four poster bed with a very comfy mattress, there was large separate room for the wardrobe and the bathroom was enormous with a double Victorian roll top bath...heaven! Everywhere was spotlessly clean but what set it apart was the attention to detail...handmade soaps and lotions(even bubblebath for bathtime)bottled water, fresh fruit and delicious homemade biscuits. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful in a pretty and unpretentious room and the table settings were lovely. Hazel helped us choose where to eat our evening meals. We found the food in the nearby pub the Kirkstile Inn really tasty and a selection of good reals ales pleased my mister! The grounds to Newhouse Farm are beautiful and the scenery and backdrop truly breathtaking, We didn't have time to use the hot tub but certainly will next time. The surrounding area of Lorton Valley is stunning and totally unspoilt yet so accessible to the other larger lakes.
I found Newhouse Farm on KGB Deals and after looking at all the fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor booked it as a two night treat for my fiancé,as he has been a rock to me. Seldom do places live up to expectations but Newhouse Farm exceeded them in a big way. It is a perfect retreat for a romantic getaway and we would both love to return....in fact we didn't want to leave!Suzanne and Tim

Lovely drive to the Farm. Scenery is breathtaking. The farm itself has plenty of parking on a gravel surface. The way to the reception is clearly marked. We had the Old Dairy. Initially no hot water as the pilot light had blown out! The winds were very very strong. Hazel sorted this out at once and this wasnt an issue for the remainder of our stay! The room itself was clean. A couple of cobwebs here and there! The door did rattle in the wind! The bathroom was clean, however, the bath plughole hadnt been checked for hairs! The slipper bath was very nice! The bedroom was comfortable. It had one chair, perhaps another chair would have been a nice touch! There was room. The bed itself was very comfortable! We slept very well. In the mornings, hot water wasnt an issue. The breakfast was good. Typical offerings. The gardens and hot tub could not be fully utilised due to the high winds!! But they looked very nice! We went on a groupon deal. The owner was happy, upon checking availability, to give the same price as groupon without going via groupon! The owner was very nice, left us alone in the lounge at night with the log fire blazing! No tv's but they were not missed. Easy drive into Keswick or Cockermouth. The pub down the road from the farm served good food and a nice beer at reasonable prices. all in all a very nice 2 night stay. No major issues. If there had been I am sure the owner would have sorted them asap! Have a trip - you'll enjoy it.

Room Tip: The Old Dairy room was situated at the front of the property and when deliveries started and workmen...
