“Smashing lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

My partner and I visited the bakery after I had seen it featured on TV.
I has the home made soup, my partner the steak pasty, simply delicious. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. As we were full after our lunch we chose cakes to take away. We are them in bed that night, one O clock in the morning, a midnight feast a la Enid Blyton, beautiful chocolate cake, rich and moist. My partner is usually most generous in sharing food, I couldn't grab even a crumb of his almond slice so I can safely say it must have been spectacular.
All in all, great value, superb food, lovely atmosphere and lashings of ginger beer!
Well done.

“Our local bakery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Luckily, this bakery is on our doorstep and is a wonderful asset to the village. New owners have certainly proved themselves and it just keeps getting better. Watched them on the TV Britain's best bakery and was thrilled they did so well against such stiff opposition. They were all winners really.

Always difficult to know what to buy and hard to resist all what they offer. Treat ourselves to their scones most weekends but can also vouch for gluten free chocolate cake, carrot cake, millionaire short bread ....

Lovely little restaurant also.

“Splendid display of goodies!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

As we were in the Lakes anyway and had enjoyed 'Britain's Best Bakery' on TV we decided to take a detour to Broughton to sample the cakes for ourselves.

Christina made time to chat with us about the making of the programme, and we enjoyed coffee and cake in the cosy cafe - unfortunately we had just eaten a huge breakfast so shared a slice of 'fly pie' and very good it was too!

Well worth a visit for the friendly welcome.

A fantastic display of bread and cakes greets you at the door of the bakery.

“Thank you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

Visited the week they were on T.V and they were winners to us. The food was just as we thought ... Amazing! It was definitely worth the visit from Edinburgh! We had the lovely freshly squeezed lemonade and delicious tomato soup and granary bread. We also had scones and their cinnamon scrolls, which were as tasty as they looked on the show! Well worth the journey... Thank you .
