“Afternoon visit to Boot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We had lunch at the Boot Inn after having a lovely walk along the river. The sandwiches were good and the service was efficient. The hotel was clean and nicely furnished. The only worry I have is that one family appears to have a monopoly within this small area of owning pubs and hotels .This may cause a problem in the future for visitors because of the lack of competition in the area of Boot ,Ravenglass etc.

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend for 2 nights. The pub was very busy but it had a great atmosphere and we had no problem at all getting our food and drink.

The food was excellent as was the full English breakfast in the morning. The location was fantastic with stunning views around and easy access to many walks.

The Pub and the rooms were nice and clean but the shower was probably my only problem as it wasn't the best. Certainly not a reason not to stay though as it was a minor problem.

The staff were also excellent, very helpful and friendly and did what they could to help/accommodate you.

Some years since we last stayed at The Boot Inn.
It has been transformed from the place we last visited with investment and the hard work of Richard, Fraser and the team who have made this place worth visiting again.
Pleasantly decorated bar area, spotlessly clean with excellent food and more importantly friendly staff with a pride in what they are doing.
We understand the bedrooms are to be refurbished in due course, but lots of hot water and plenty of towels. No TV in the room but the views made up for it.

Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac it would be easy to overlook The Boot and that would be a great pity. Had a beautiful roast beef, Sunday lunch there that was an excellent meal, served in glorious surroundings by a friendly staff. There's a nice garden with a play area for the kids and even the sun came out so we couldn't find anything at all to complain about.

Was camping nearby so was nice to able to walk somewhere with the family for dinner. A good varied menu with a couple veggie options and a good range of children's meal. Good selection of real ales to go with it as well. Very friendly efficient service. Nice kids play area outside made life easier.

Good choice of beers, food was reasonably priced and tasty (I had the steak burger for lunch)

Beer garden had a swing and climbing frame that kept the kids occupied.

Seemed popular with diners on the evening

We stayed at The Boot for a few days a few years ago and managed to book a single night last weekend - most unusual in the Lake District but very welcome.

We stayed in Room 5, which was small but newly refurbished and very comfortable. The noise from some pumps or other equipment in the kitchen was intrusive, but we had to have the windows open all night as it was during the recent heat wave.

The food was very good, as was the choice of beers but the wine list wasn't very extensive. Good value for the wines they do sell though.

Best black pudding I've ever had, handmade at Muncaster, apparently.

Friendly staff.
