“Great place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

A good location as it is only a short distance from the motorway if you are travelling right across the country, as we were. It is a character pub with really nice rooms, in a lovely village on the edge of the Lake District. Tarzan pictures abound because of the Greystoke connection - but no photo of Christopher Lambert, I was sad to note! We enjoyed a very good evening meal here, after a beautiful drive over the Kirkstone Pass. All the staff are very friendly and dogs are welcome - which makes a lot of difference to us. There are seats outside at the front and a large garden at the back too. We enjoyed our breakfast, and we reckon we will be back next year..

Stayed here for one night through work and felt that it was a pleasant little pub. Cozy bar area and the food was good. Was made to feel welcome by staff and locals. Breakfast was tasty and Would stay here again.

We had a great 1 night stay in May and found the inn to be excellent. The publicans, Ben and Jan [aka- Tarzan and Jane] made us feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. The accomodation was clean, warm and cosy, the meals and breakfast were very good. The pub had a good feel about it and had a good friendly crowd in the bar. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

two day mid week stay at Boot &Shoe Greystoke. Very welcoming characterful & charming country pub. Excellent staff and facilities in a very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfasts excellent and evening meals faultless. Don't expect 1st class luxury, it is what it is, but if you want an uncomplicated stay, this is it.

Room Tip: no way, we want to stay again!

As a local I use the Boot and Shoe on a regular basis for a drink and dine there at least once a week. The food at lunch time is great value for money .I can recommend the burgers on the Lunchtime menu . If I dine in the evening I usually order of the Special's Board always something interesting on there.Ben the landlord is a gem and Jan the landlady always has a smile not to mention the other characters that frequent the pub .

Ate here on 30.5.13 with four friends doing the C2C cycle challenge (our first night). We booked a table here eight weeks in advance for 8 p.m. We eventually sat down for our meal (after pestering the staff) at 8.45 p.m. with no apology by the owner, who showed us to our table. She then left us with no menues, but managed to pass menues to other groups of diners!!! The saving grace for this 'pub' was the food, we all had steak & ale pie with chips. The food was great, the staff & manager have work to do on their social skills. If you want good food this is the place, don't expect good service.

Room Tip: If you stay in Greystoke this is the only place to eat, that's why the reviews are so good. Pay...

Call in here on our way back to our lodge for a meal wasn't sure we'd get in as 7 of us, the place was packed to the rafters but yes they would find us a table and sure enough we got one, it was very cosy as we were in the snug but still very nice, didn't have to wait to long either for our food which was absolutely delicious will definitely return here again.
