“Fabulous place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Really good atmosphere, amazing food (the sweet potato chips are awesome!) and lovely staff.

There are llamas and other animals for the children to look at, and a wonderful little shop with great trinkets and clothing.

Really, really nice and well recommended.

“Nice food & nice surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Although we live locally we have only just paid this cafe a visit. It was a cold wet day but inside was cosy & warm due to a lovely log burner. The decor has a South American feel, bright coloured walls and you can buy various things whilst there. There is a large bright conservatory you can sit in and watch as the llamas walk by. The service was quick & had no complaints about the food - we got a lot to eat with our filled baguettes. Prices are very much the same as anywhere else - the scones and tray bakes looked delicious but I was too full to try them.

“Not your average roadside cafe!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stopped at the Llama Karma for the first time in Nov 2012, having passed it many times on our way up to or back from Scotland. We had a very favourable recommendation from a friend who is also a regular to Scotland via the A66, so were keen to try it out.

There's a smallish, but good menu on offer and you can see this by visiting their website. We had a really good bacon bap (£3.50) and a huge chicken mayo baguette (£5.50). The latter was particularly good value - full of chicken and some salad, with some salad and tortilla chips on the plate too. I also ordered potato wedges (£3.95) because they don't do chips. Mistake - we couldn't finish them even though they were very tasty.

My partner was delighted to be able to get a skinny latte (£2.25) and I had a very acceptable black coffee (£2.10).

The cafe also sells some locally/home made produce and caters for coeliacs - we didn't try it but their gluten free dime bar flapjack sounded great. You can also buy cardigans, hats and jackets made from (I think) llama or alpaca hair. They looked nice and seemed very warm. We will definitely pop in here next time we are travelling up. It's just a mile or so outside Penrith and the M6 junction, so very convenient (and worth waiting to get to from Scotch Corner instead of havinf a coffee stop at the horrendously over-priced Costa Coffe in the services there!).

“Llama Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

I found this cafe enroute to Scotland on the main A66 road. This cafe is very individual with all sorts of animals on show, and as the name suggests, Lamas!! This is quite a site if, as me, you werent expecting it.
The food served was all home made and the menu suggests it may take slightly longer due to this reason but there was no noticible delay. The standard of the food, we had meat pie, was really good and all the staff very nice. They were happy to chat about their ethos of the place and the animals.
It was a really nice experience.
