We spent three days at the Leathes Head country house hotel,
The reason we chose this hotel was so we could walk up "Cat bells".
The location of the hotel was excellent, you get fantastic views from every room.
We stayed in a standard room which had a huge bathroom with a bath and shower, just what you need after a long walk.
The food was excellent with a great choice of wines.
Roy ,Janice and their staff made us feel so wellcome.
We would recommend this hotel to anybody wishing to experience the lake district in style and comfort.

My husband and myself have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Leathes Head Country House Hotel. We would just like to say thank you to Roy and Janice who made our visit so enjoyable. We have stayed in quite a few hotels in the Lake District and we can truly say this was the best.
This is also the first hotel to welcome us with coffee and homemade cake on arrival.
Our room was Room 3, a lovely double aspect room with superb views from both windows. The food was excellent with a different menu each evening, beauifully prepared and presented by the resident chef David Jackson. The hotel boasts one of the largest wine lists I've seen for a small hotel and a superb range of single malt whiskies. Breakfast also was very good, again with a large choice.
The hotel is totally non smoking with only 11 bedrooms. The 3 lounges are very comfortable with armchairs and one lounge with lovely fell views. Roy has a large selection of books, both walking and otherwise which his guests are welcome to use.
Nothing was too much effort for both Roy and Janice who go out of their way to unobtrusively make their guests feel welcome.
We will definitely be back, a superb hotel in an outstanding location.

This is a lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful views and walks. We stayed with our Children (10 and 12) who had their own separate room.

The Rooms were very quite basic but clean and both rooms had power showers and tellys (which was lucky as Doctor Who was on tv before dinner!)

The Dinner was superb - 5 courses and really delicious the kids enjoyed as much as we did - the breakfast was also amazing with a wide choice of local cooked produce.

To sum it up we were really well looked after and the food was wonderful. My daughter left a necklace in her room and the owners very kindly posted it back to us.

Stayed a couple of nights on a walking break and had a really relaxed weekend. The owners are extremley welcoming, and always on hand to help. Lovely big bathroom, comfy bed, and very comfy chairs in the reception rooms, just what we needed after wearing ourselves out in the hills.

We only dined at the hotel on the second evening as we arrived very late the first night, but the dinner was really excellent. Lovely fresh food, imaginative but not overly rich. Very good choice and standard of breakfast too.

All in all, highly recommended.
