“Beautiful, comfortable Lodore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

Stayed at Lodore 2 nights from 11th November 2011 with my husband. As soon as we arrived we knew that we would be in for a treat! Quite beautiful location, quite beautiful hotel. The staff all were excellent, the food superb. The Lodore is for some old fashioned looking, but for me it is wonderfully comfortable. I am really looking forward to my next visit, this time taking my daughter last day of Feb and 1st day of March. Cannot wait!

Room Tip: our room was overlooking tennis court, with grounds lit up at night it was very attractive.

My good friend and I had an amazing 3 days at the Lodore Hotel. The facilities were great, lovely pool and leisure area. Outside hot tub an added bonus.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and we felt really well looked after.
One of the best ideas was the courtesy the glass of pimms and scones with fresh cream and jam, on arrival.
The room was large and comfortable.
For me the highlight of my stay was the wonderful tasty evening meals, each night we had really interesting choices of beautifully prepared food.
The view from the Hotel were stunning and we could go for long interesting walks without taking the car.
We will certainly book again.

Just had a lovely three day break at the Lodore Falls Hotel in Borrowdale. We had a three day stay for the price of two and a free room upgrade on a DB&B basis. The hotel is full of charm and elegance, with lovely food, a well stocked bar and health club. A new addition, 'The Hot Tub', is very popular, and you need to book your time slot in plenty of time. The only bad experience was when I walked into the wrong room, bad because my door key unlocked the door!! But otherwise a great place to go and relax.

We chose this hotel for a one night stay simply based on the reviews here. We were not disappointed. A very warm professional welcome from a professional on the reception desk, a lovely complimentary upgrade to a mini suite as it was my birthday, a nice box of chocolates neatly wrapped as a present. Prompt polite bar service, a huge and affordable wine list (complete with my favourite Montrachet), a fantastic dinner that puts many Michelin starred restaurants to shame. We could not fault the Lodore. The staff are well trained and clearly enjoy their jobs. My top tip, they offered a nice dinner/wine package provided you chose wine from a very limited selection. They were happy to discount the value of that wine from any of the wines in their cellar, so the dinner package offered on arrival was truly good value to us. This is a hard hotel to beat. Well done!

Having visited in March 2011, we booked again for January 2012, for my birthday. The hotel was fantastic, with great staff from the cleaners to the reception staff, dining staff etc. Everyone was friendly and helpful, with out being "stuffy". We travelled with our well-behaved dogs, who enjoyed the extras of dog beds and bowls provided!
The hotel was kept very clean. The food was excellent, with choices from the four course dinner menu being served efficiently by the attentive waiting staff.
The pool and gym looked very inviting, however I did not find the time to use these because, the hotel is situated in such a fantastic walking area. I did however manage to fit in a pedicure and facial (thoroughly enjoyed and recommended). Thanks to everyone at this fab hotel

Room Tip: Choose the best up-grade you can afford.

The hotel is very comfortable and well appointed with good spa and pool facilities. The food is nothing short of exceptional and the service from all hotel staff is friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning to this excellent hotel

Room Tip: We stayed in the fell side but would book lakeside next time.

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend away at the Lodore Hotel, it was our first visit to the hotel and a very pleasant one. The food was excellent and the service just as good, the staff were very friendly and would go out of their way to assist you. The room we stayed in was comfortable and very clean and fresh towels and toiletries placed in the room on each day. We can honestly say that we have never tasted food as nice as it was at the hotel and we wouldn't hesitate to return for another visit. It was my birthday whilst there and on our return from a visit to Keswick I was made up to see that the management team had left me a birthday card and box of chocolates in our room. We would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and for making us both very welcome. Tracy and Ian - Preston

Room Tip: Its difficult to say but if you are lucky to get a view over the lake go for it, it is an eye opener...
