“A lovely Valentines day trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

We stayed here for two nights over Valentines day in the Tower Suite.

Room: Very spacious, warm and comfortable. We had a bedroom and a lounge area both of which were decorated in a early 20th century style. View from window and tower room were lovely - looking out over the snowy tops. Shower was powerful and warm. Bath was next to bed in bedroom which was odd but quirky. Overall a pleasant and attractive room.

Service: All staff were very pleasant and accommodating. They were all female with no males seen at all? Woman with white blonde hair (possibly Naomi?) was bubbly and really made us feel welcome. Laura, whom we met on arrival was very helpful and accommodating. All other staff, although we do not know their names, were kind and friendly.

Food: Apart from the breakfast which we had both mornings and thoroughly enjoyed, (continental and full English available) we also had a bar meal our first evening and the Valentines menu our second.
Pub meal was excellent with fast service and a warm atmosphere with a crackling fire in the background. Wide range of drinks available. Food reasonably priced and lovely desserts!
Valentines meal was 4 courses for £20.95. We both had red pepper soup for starter, steak for him and a bacon wrapped stuffed chicken for her, sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate cheesecake for dessert followed by tea and homemade chocolates. Cannot fault any of it. Portion size was, if anything TOO generous as we were stuffed afterwards. Service throughout meal was attentive and polite. Atmosphere was lovely with hearts hanging from the window and romantic music playing. Would recommend the food to anyone as there was a good choice for each course and it was very well priced for the quality and quantity received.

Overall, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nent Hall and hope to return, perhaps when weather is better as road to get here was quite treacherous in the bad weather!

My husband and I stayed at Nent Hall over the New Year period, this was our third visit in 2013 and we can't get enough of the place. For a few days away we always used to choose the Lake District but now we head to Nent Hall. In 2013 we took two lots of friends on two trips and this year we're planning to take four relatives. The Hall is quirky with lots of interesting places to discover. Although it is stashed with old and valuable furniture and ornaments absolutely nothing is off limits. I feel terrible eating at such a shiny and clearly valuable table but that's how relaxed this place is. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable; the dining room is huge as is the lounge where you can choose from several arm chairs or settees to sit on. There is a pub-type Inn attached to the hotel which is ideal for an evening meal, you don't have to make the effort to find somewhere decent to eat as it's on the doorstep. The girls who run the Hall are simply lovely and they can't do enough for you. They make you feel special and really welcome, what a team!! So get yourself along to Nent Hall for a few relaxing days in the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Room Tip: There are garden rooms on the ground floor which are ideal if you use a wheelchair or any walking ai...

We needed a quite break so this hotel gor a great price for a room with a four poster bed. The room was spotless, the staff were great, interesting building. It would be fantastic in the summer. The food and wine were good and the silence is deafening.

We stayed overnight yesterday, very much in/out as we had a 750 mile round trip to view a horse in Gretna Green. Tired after the drive we were met by such a cheery welcome, NOTHING was too much trouble. Lovely hotel, with a super room, great food (we chose to eat in) - OMG the Cider is too much of a temptation followed by a great nights sleep and a fantastic full English - perfect. Couldn't of asked for more. We wish you all every possible success for the coming year and would have absolutely no hesitation in returning time and again. Good Luck guyz - you deserve it !!

We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year and couldn't fault any of it. On New Year's Eve they had a buffet laid out which was gorgeous along with complimentary wine and then champagne and bacon butties at midnight! Our meals throughout our stay were delicious and freshly cooked (the desserts were to die for!) All the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Yes the hotel is "dated" but to us that just means it has character and is lovely and cosy. The location is also beautiful and you're not too far from some lovely picturesque walks and historical sites. We will definitely be returning in the summer for what will no doubt be another fantastic stay!

we booked for a weekend away with the puppy on spec. The hotel was warm and inviting and the staff could not have been more helpful - on the morning we left they cooked us breakfast 1 hour earlier than usual as we had to leave early. The food was very enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would recommend the hotel for a peaceful get away and we will certainly be returning in the spring
