“Not a good impression”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

My wife and I have just come back from a 2 day break at this hotel.
In general the staff were helpful and the hotel was clean.
However, the curtains in our room had obviously been in a flood as they were generall y musty and had two pronounced white damp marks forming 2 lines the complete width of the curtains.
The windows in the bay had had the mold areas only painted over in the summer leaving a strange two white effect.
Although breakfast was ok it would have been better served hot.
All in all it was not two the standard we expected. I dare say if I was a rep needing a bed for the night it would be fine but if your looking for a quality restful experience dont bother.

Room Tip: If offered room 47 refuse it

I booked this hotel as all the usual hotels in Manchester were fully booked due to an important football fixture. I travel a lot with my work and have consequently had some very mixed experiences in various hotels. The first thing that struck me was just how friendly and helpful the staff were. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and when I returned to the reception with a query and the receptionist was dealing with some else, another member of staff quickly came and offered their help.... how nice not to be ignored which has been the case in many other hotels. It is true to say that the decor is a little tired, but with free wi-fi, well presented room service food, a clean and quiet room and easy access to the M6 it was a winner for me. I will certainly consider booking this hotel again when I am in the area

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and i can not fault the staff there were excellent, they could not do enough for us.
Hotel is looking a bit tired, but the room was good and the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was good.
We had a meal on the second night and that was excellent.
I must congratulate all staff, but the one that was outstanding was Paul the Bar Manager he is a credit to the hotel

We would like to thank the staff at Brook Chimney House for making our stay so enjoyable.
Nothing was too much trouble and accommodation and food were of a very high standard.

We understand the hotel has recently changed hands and the only comment we would make is that the decor is looking a little tired in the Dining Room other that a very friendly hotel in a lovely
location.

I like to thank the hotel for honouring our booking, as we so worried that we had lost our deposit due to the hotel changing hands . The service and food were top class and we were very well looked after

We were able to choose the menu for our guests and add an extra soup course for a very reasonable charge. The food was excellent on quality, quantity and presentation. The staff were friendly and attentive and service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them and it made the day very special. They even presented the birthday girl's desert with Happy Birthday piped in chocolate on the plate and a candle in the delicious Brownie. Outside the staff waved us off as we got into our Stretch Hummer. A truly wonderful dining experience and special thanks go to Megan who ensured it was such a success. It far outshone a recent 60th luncheon party at The Manor House in Alsager

Stayed in this hotel by chance as the hotel I was supposed to be at was full.
The hotel has recently been taken over by a bigger hotel chain and you seem to get the feeling there that the hotel is in a transition period.
The bedroom was large and really well set out and the bathroom also was quite big with a separate shower from the bath. The shower is NOT a power shower but it was hot and constant.
The staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you.
Food was really nice and the portions large. Price for food and drink is reasonable also.
Only downside for me, they didn't take Amex which my works credit card is!
