“Excellent Venue for Business Workshops and Lunches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

Yesterday I was the keynote speaker at a Forward Ladies event at Nunsmere Hall Hotel. It was my first visit to the hotel and a memorable one - for all the right reasons. As I arrived in the pouring rain, there was Melvin the hotel's porter, immaculate in suit and bowler hat, springing into action with a brolly and a smile to help me to carry my technical equipment into the conference room. Nothing was too much for him and the team as they hastily re-designed the room set up as we discovered that we had more attendees than first expected.

The hotel is set in superb grounds, creating a lovely ambiance for those who either want a country break in Cheshire or just a break from the office for workshops and conferences. We had a lovely lunch time session (and the extra homemade cookies were very naughty and very nice).

Many thanks to the staff, but especially to Melvin who stayed at the end of his shift to help me to pack laptops and materials back into the car. It was still raining, but it really didn't matter - the brolly was at the ready and the service was 100% sunshine!

Room Tip: I didn't stay overnight so couldn't comment on the bedrooms

Recently I purchased a voucher from Travel Zoo, which was for a Five Course Taster Menu with Prosecco. There seemed to be limited availability when I rang to book, but my husband and I were able to dine there last night.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were attentive and caring (not in an over familiar way!). They were all very efficient and kind. We had an excellent meal...both delicious and imaginative. It was an absolutely wonderful evening and we are definitely going to return.

We stayed at Nunsmere for two nights to celebrate the wedding of my husbands work colleague. What a fantastic venue for a wedding. The whole hotel was available from the Library with a roaring fire to the bar and dining rooms. The staff could not have been friendlier, the Porter was so welcoming and all waiting staff and housekeeping staff were helpful and cheerful from start to finish. We dined in the restaurant the night before the wedding and the steak was perfect! Our room was a little tired, but large and clean. We would recommend the hotel and hope to return ourselves later in the year.

Stayed at the hotel for my wife's birthday on a travel zoo voucher(which we upgraded at a cost of £50.00) room(honeysuckle) was ok although slightly tired. We were greeted by the porter who was very friendly, warm and welcoming, booked the meal for 6.30 and following a walk around the grounds we changed and went down to an empty and dark dining room. On asking the waiter to show us to our table we were told to wait in the bar. The same waiter then approached us and almost demanded we present our voucher, on attempting to explain to him we had already handed it in on arrival earlier in the day, he did not let up and was down right rude to us, however the duty manager came over and smoothed the situation as I was becoming annoyed. We enjoyed our meal but the earlier situation ruined the occasion and we ended up back in the room at 9PM with a bad taste in our mouths. The following morning we had to endure breakfast served by the same rude waiter(very awkward!)
Plus points-nice hotel set in lovely grounds, staff although in short supply were great apart from the dinning room waiter!!!! food was excellent but would we stay again? most definitely not due to the rudeness of the waiter who spoilt our stay!

Room Tip: Don't bother upgrading unless you ask to view room first.

Our daughter's wedding took place on January 17th 2014. Prior to the event the staff were very accommodating and helpful. On the build up to the event we had excellent support in picking the menu, booking rooms for overnight stay on the day of the wedding and arrangements for the day. On the special day the whole experience was magical, reception was everything we could have asked for, the meal fabulous and the service throughout the evening top class. It was a wonderful location, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they ensured it was a memorable day and night for my daughter and her husband.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary for one night using a Travelzoo dining deal, although due to availability we had to upgrade our room to a Junior suite. This made it an expensive stay, but our room was lovely (Elm) with a four poster bed and gorgeous big bath and separate shower and our own walk in wardrobe room. The staff were all incredibly accommodating and despite being a gluten free vegetarian, I enjoyed the most amazing 5 course meal without any side effects and, for once, I didn't envy what was on my partner's plate! We even took the two hotel Labradors for a walk the following morning. Only thing missing was a swimming pool. I would definitely recommend - especially if for more special occasions,

Visited Nunsmere on a Travel Zoo Dining deal and decided to have an overnight stay - very pleased we did. The room (Orchid) had the 'wow factor'. It was very spacious, spotlessly clean and full of character, with a huge comfy bed. The dining experience was superb with professional, friendly, unpretentious staff, who obviously had pride in the hotel, as when we remarked to one of the waiters what a beautiful building the hotel was, he told us how old it was and spoke about the features of the dining room. The meal was beautifully presented and delicious, as was breakfast. Special thanks to 'Marvellous Melvyn', who greeted us as though we were royalty as soon as we pulled up in the driveway, carried our bag (sorry it was so heavy - never go anywhere without the kitchen sink, even for one night!) and told us all about the area and the available walks. There was no problem leaving the car the next day while we went for a walk - it was such a lovely day and we wanted to make the most of it. When we returned a few hours later, Melvyn even came out to see us and asked how we'd got on and if we had enjoyed ourselves. We have a family celebration later this year and will certainly consider having it at Nunsmere, but think we will be back again before this! Thank you all for a memorable experience.
