The hotel is very convenient for the nearby Polo Ground and the house and garden is ideal for weddings. In quiet periods they offer special dinners (£59 for two for a 'tasting menu' which is usually £111). We took their offer. The location is quiet and surrounded by a large lake. The 28 room hotel was once a distinguished country home and felt very comfortable with several small lounges and a library. Our dinner comprised five courses, one was the coffee. The tasting soup was served in a tiny glass with a tea spoon. The braised steak main course was of normal size and tasty. The dessert of creme brulee was excellent. The coffee in the generous pots was very good. The wine list has almost 200 wines and a dozen of them were available by the glass. Bottle prices start around £25. We really liked the wine we chose.
We enjoyed the evening and intend to return for special celebrations but with their normal menu.(around £30 plus 12.5% service charge). If you take their special offer remember that a glass of prosecco.is usually included. We forgot to ask for that..
