“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

A recent canal trip prompted a stop at this pub. It has a good canal side location and was very busy on a weekday evening. There was only one cask ale but it was in excellent condition and very well kept. The food menus were all on tatty bits of paper and when trying to order a lot of items were unavailable. The food was very average, standard pub grub. Nothing at all wrong with it and the prices were very good. Unfortunately, there was nothing about this pub that would make me want to go back though. Such a shame, as with a little thought it could be a very good pub.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Called into The Broken Cross the other weekend for a drink with my partner, it was rather quiet except for the few regulars standing at the bar. Drinks were ordered fine and I decided I would like some food so I ordered a BBQ cheese and chicken baguette for £4.75. This came after only a few minutes wait and what I can say but what a dissapointment for nearly £5 all there was on the plate was a pale, soggy bageutte yes the filling was nice and hot there was nothing else on the plate. I have had this type of meal in loads of places and it always comes with a small salad or a few crisps on the side but this place nothing and they were not exactly busy. I hear some other people order something similar but I never saw their food being taken out to them. Plus when my partner went to the bar to order another drink the man behind the bar was nowhere to be seen all he seemed to be doing was watching the 2 TV's that were on showing sports channels both rather loudly in a small pub

“Great Sunday lunch recommended by a mate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

Came for Sunday lunch on a recommendation of a friend.

The atmosphere was great with a few old friends in. We were served by friendly helpful staff.

We soon found a table and ordered beef roast dinners which came in minutes and was piping hot.

Great lunch food was amazing will be coming again

“Good food, great prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Was pleased that they were dog friendly. Staff were very friendly, food was good and prices were very reasonably. Right on the canal towpath with seating outside and berthing right outside. Would highly recommend

“It has picked up.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

The new owners were great with a cheap menu,we went every friday night for the first 3 weeks with around 10 of us,however they changed the meal to a tatty piece of paper. The menu is limited unlike the last one and the prices are too high.

I wont be returning to this pub unless the menu is changed.
