“Very Poor, needs more upkeep, new management and moody waitress”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

I recently visited the Peacock on my way through the village and was Horrified by certain points of the pub/restaurant.

1) the pub overall is dirty! tables were not wiped down as mine and the table next to me was sticky, the toilets are a farm for grime and cobwebs! To top it off it looks like the place has never seen a duster! over all it was an unpleasant environment to eat in.

some members of the staff were very well presented especially the barman and the young waitress who served me was fantastic (Jake(i think his name was) + the girl with blonde and black hair) however I was shown to the table by a waiter wearing a small tight vest and long baggy combat trousers with an extreme hairstyle that resembled a untrimmed hedge. Only to find out he was the manager!
One member of staff was particularly unpleasant, she seemed very under-miming to other staff by the looks she gave them and the manor in which she communicated with them and it made the atmosphere very awkward and tense.

I would not recommend the peacock to anyone unless i found it had been put under new management and been improved and cleaned! DRASTICALLY!

“Defiantly visit again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

I honestly don't know what these reviews are moaning about me and my friends come here at least twice a month and have always been given friendly and warm service and nice food. This is what u can expect from a 2 for 10 place, it has nice atmosphere and decor and clean and well managed.

“Food okay, service lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

This is one of those two for a tenner type pubs.. We went as a large party and were advised that our food might be delayed slightly due to the size of the party.. Ten people... To be fair it wasn't packed but bustly so you kind of expect a wait..... Didn't seem to be many staff though, only two behind the bar and they were also manning the food ordering point... We did have to wait, the starter never actually arrived at all, the meals were nice, no complaints there... The desserts seemed to come out in dribs and drabs and then the young lad had to go and look for spoons, we could also hear the chef shouting service and I mean shouting with the kitchen door shut!!!! Sounded well stressed out.. The table remained with its dirty first course dishes for ages, just as we were about to complain a lady came to clear the empty glasses and dishes, seemed an increase in staff then, their next shift must have started!!! The food was nice, just lacked in the service department...... And we don't want to hear the kitchen staff shouting!!!!
