“An Excellent Stay.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We were booked into The Rookery as a gift for our 30th Wedding Anniversary from our children before flying to the Maldives.
This hotel is excellent from the moment you drive into the beautiful grounds you just know you are in for a treat.
Check in was very friendly and super quick,we had been given a upgrade to the February Suite,Daniel showed us to our suite which was amazing,it was beautifully decorated,a huge bed, bathrobes and slippers,tv and two comfy chairs and fabulous views.
On the table a lovely surprize a chilled bottle of champane,a box of chocolates and a hand written card wishing us a Happy Anniversay a lovely touch we thought.
The bathroom was huge with a very large shower, his and her sinks and best of all a roll top bath. The window was so big that whilst you lay in the bath you had lovely views of the countryside.
We went to have a look around, the grounds are lovely, the hotel itself is beautiful, huge stained glass windows whilst walking down the stairway.

We saw from the outside a lovely table through the window all set for dinner and thought that would be a lovely table to have dinner tonight.
We walked over to the Spa and spent a lovely afternoon relaxing in the pool and the jacuzzi,we left feeling very relaxed

Our children had booked us in for evening dinner yes totally spoilt we were...which was amazing
On returning to the room the receptionist rang to ask was all well, we said we had evening meal booked would we be able to book a table near the window she said it was no problem.
Well we went down to have Evening Dinner and were very happy to say we had the table we had saw earlier in the day such a beautiful setting.
Evening Dinner itself was amazing from start to finish the food and service was outstanding,it was lovely to sit and enjoy dinner whilst watching the rabbits bobbing around the grounds.
We had a really goodnights sleep the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was lovely, loads of items to choose from fresh fruits, cereals, breads, meats, and a cooked breakfast which you order, all very enjoyable.
Check out was very quick, and all done with a smile.
Would we go back you bet we would, this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
May we take this opportunity to say a huge Thank you to all the staff for making our Anniversay so special..
.

Room Tip: The Febuary Suite was wonderful, with lovely views.

Peaceful and comfortable nights sleep in a beautifully appointed, clean and modern rooms. The food an expensive treat for a business trip ... but well worth it. I particularly enjoyed the spa and the tranquil surroundings of the hotel in general. Lots of personal attention to service, eye contact, use of name ... all good stuff. I didn't really want to leave. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Looking forward to my next visit already.

I booked an overnight stay to celebrate my other half's birthday in style having found a great deal on Groupon. Check-in couldn't have been friendlier, our room was luxurious with a stunning view, beautiful furniture & even had a t.v.that you could watch whilst soaking in the bath! Daniel showed us to our room, he was polite & so helpful & we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice with two glasses & a card which read "Happy Birthday from Stephen & the team". Rookery Hall & it's staff are exemplary, it is always apparent that your custom is valued & they genuinely care about a high degree of customer satisfaction. We indulged in a lovely afternoon tea with a fine choice of teas available & scrumptious cakes served by Andrew who put one hand behind his back as he poured our drinks displaying premium service training. The evening meal menu had a lot of choice & served local produce in a formal yet relaxing atmosphere. We woke to the sound of birds & stripy lawns where baby rabbits hopped around & the geese in the middle of the pond had just welcomed four, green, fluffy babies that morning denoting the Spring season at its very best! The spa is kept pristinely clean & offers a huge jacuzzi big enough to swim in with a steam room & sauna along with a wealth of treatments available. I noticed offers of a further 25% discount listed on the board to promote the filling of last minute availability. Breakfast was informal with a plentiful cold buffet & cooked breakfast made to order. As we checked out from our wonderful stay the duty manager, Jess Fletcher enquired about our visit & offered to show us the more traditional junior suites in the old part of the building for a future booking. The room entitled "June" is my personal favourite, it is stunning with several windows & a roll top bath. We will definitely return to Rookery Hall, it is a gem of a hotel that I cannot recommend enough & we left feeling completely spoiled by luxury :-)) Thank you from Andrea & Ian

Room Tip: Contemporary rooms are in the new extended part of the building with all of the mod cons synonymous...

We had the pleasure of spending the night here as a treat/break from the norm. It was certainly that! We had 2 amazing execitive rooms which were well worth the upgrade. As we were only there for 1 night i insisted on having both a bath (in order to appreciate the TV sunken into the tiles at the bottom of the bath!) and a shower as the shower was fab with water jets built into the walls. From the moment we arrived the staff were wonderfully attentive. Our bags were carried to our rooms by 2 very friendly and helpful gentlemen, as said the rooms were amazing, extremely comfortable, spacious and well designed. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon in the bar and then one of the best evening meals that i have ever had. We were totally spoilt for choice by the extensive menu and there were some lovely extras like a delicious pre starter and a fantastic variety of speciality home made bread. Breakfast also totally surpassed expectations with a wonderful choice using fantastic quality local ingredients. We are really looking forward to our next stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Rookery Hall for a wedding/celebration or just simply for a a luxury break.

The drive from Bakewell in Derbyshire saw us arrive in just over an hour to a sweeping drive, with manicured lawns and a fabulous looking building. The reception team were great, with Dan the porter being well informed and helpful with how everything in our suite worked. Dinner was booked and a leisurely few hours was spent in the spa. Well presented and helpful staff. The dining experience was excellent, with wine recommendations being made by John the sommelier. The next day, of our two day stay, was spent going to Chester for a run out. But not for too long, leaving time to return to afternoon tea, with Champagne served excellently by Andrew. Thereafter a relaxing few hours reading in the suite, followed by the spa and another excellent dinner. Can't fault it. Breakfast on both days was well done too. Overall a very nice few days made so by the friendly and smiling staff.

Last minute booking for a 40th wedding anniversary, so was very pleased with the whole experience. Very friendly and efficient staff tended to all our needs. Special place for a special occasion, afternoon tea with sparking wine and scones really welcome after our journey. Upgraded to an executive double with special features including a TV in the bathroom which was really appreciated by my wife for her afternoon soak. Beautiful food, drink and service for our evening meal and breakfast.
Used the spa facilities onsite and they were very clean.

Overall a lovely experience, highly recommended for anyone thinking of looking for a short stay or a special occasion, many thanks

Room Tip: We had an upgrade to an executive double overlooking the fields, really nice and quiet
