“Great for a short break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Have stayed twice at this travel lodge as its in a great location. It's is clean and the rooms are spacious. The reception team are very helpful. Lots of free parking is available. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs just outside. Also a tenpin bowling and the Vue Cinema.

There are lots of shops nearby on the Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet and two supermarkets close by.

The Aquarium is just across the road and Chester Zoo is just a few minutes drive which is definitely worth a visit. Tickets can be bought at the Tourist Information Centre at the shopping outlet for less than the gate price.

Overall a good place to stay if you just want a bed for the night or a few nights if you are planning a shopping trip or to visit local attractions.

Room Tip: Ring the travel lodge directly if you have any questions or requests. The staff are very helpful an...

Clean and comfortable and the expectation was to,my liking on my recent business trip. Very spacious and welcoming, very quiet. And would recommend to friends and family if they ever need to stay in the area.

Generally we stay in either Premier Inn's or Travel Lodges, subject to where we are going and what is available, we do this because you generally know exactly what you are going to get.

Travel Lodge at Cheshire Oaks is no different, we got exactly what we wanted, clean (very clean in fact), very comfortable, warm and comfortable, what was stand out though were the staff, the receptionist gave us a warm greeting, was polite and chatty, gave us some local tips, provided us with some good advise, especially over our planned trip to Chester Zoo.

We greeted and were greeted by the cleaning staff, again very happy and chirpy, which is not always the case, it seemed like the staff were keen for their customers to have a pleasurable stay.

As we generally do our research before we book we knew that we would be staying very near the Cheshire Oaks shopping area, but was surprised at how well serviced the area was with restaurants or exactly how close. The Travel Lodge sits above a Prezzo, Iguanas, Coal, and then very very close Bella Italia, Chiquito, Frankie & Benny's Hungry Horse and more. Entertainment wise also in the stretch was a Vue Cinema.

Great location for shopping and entertainment and tons of free parking !

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the rear of holiday, maybe this reduced any noise, but gave us a view over...

We stayed here (2 adults and 2 children) mid week in the Easter holidays. We arrived at 2.30pm and the lady on reception was very polite & allowed us to check in early (usually 3pm) and with the weather being warm advised us they have plenty of fans if we needed them.
Rooms
Went to our room 302, which was on the back of the hotel facing the car park, think this is the best side as you didn't get the heat all day & it would of been quieter as on the front of hotel you are above the restaurants. Rooms basic but they are large & clean ( what more do you need) Our bed was comfy although kids said the sofa bed that they were on was a little hard (didn't stop them sleeping though)

Eating out
Below the hotel there was a lot of choice for food/drinks: bella italia, las iguanas, zizii, nandos, coal, frankie & bennies, hungry horse and a cinema & a bowling alley all walking distance. We ate at Coal one night, few doors along from hotel & it was very nice, food lovely and 241 cocktails. Another night we ate nearer the designer outlet, a pub called Old Hall Farm - located next to TGI fridays/KFC, again food nice (and cheap) and they had a large outdoor play area for kids which was nice. There are also more food options in the cheshire oaks designer outlet but we never ate there.

Shopping
Beside the hotel there is a big retail park with the likes of Debenhams, new look, outfit etc, then beside that you have cheshire oaks designer outlet (it is walkable from the hotel but i would take car as there is lots of parking) lots and lots of great shops here! Again, a large kids play area which went down well with the kids & it was open til 8pm at night. Next to cheshire oaks there is also a sainsburys which is handy as I got some picnic supplies in there on the day of our visit to the zoo.

Zoo
Our main reason for the stay was to visit the zoo, the hotel is only a ten minute drive to it. Zoo was fantastic, very big with large enclosures for the animals. Only downside was the food was quite expensive I had read online so we took a picnic with us, lots of areas to sit & have lunch.

Would deffinitley return to Cheshire Oaks, cheap mid week break away with plenty to do around the hotel & in a great location for the zoo & getting into Chester centre.

Room Tip: higher floor on back of hotel.

I usually stay in a Premier Inn if I want somewhere convenient and cheapish and just for one night but because of the brilliant location of this hotel and the excellent reviews decided to book it for one night. I really felt I was prison. I paid £70 for one night, nothing included. The area is not nice either. Saving grace were the staff, they were welcoming, accommodating and lovely. Couldn't have asked for better. But we were with them for just a few minutes!
No wardrobe, hangers on the wall, no drawers, shelf on the wall! Cheap soap dispenser on the wall. However the very worst thing, awful, scratchy, nylon nearly fitted sheets on the bed! I had the most awful night trying to sleep. Why do they use these? Well, I know why and it is so true you get what you pay for, they are CHEAP. Honestly is £70 really that cheap in this location? The reception area is also on the first floor so you walk into an empty, concrete, cold, hallway to use a smelly lift to get to the reception. But as I said we did get a really warm welcome. This is nothing to do with the staff. Never again.

Room Tip: Rooms are all the same.

It is great to hear that our staff provided a fantastic service. We feel that we offer all that is needed for a comfortable night’s stay. This includes a clean room, comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities, flat screen T.V and an en suite bathroom. We are sorry to learn of your disappointment. Your feedback is invaluable to us so thank you for sharing your experience.

Easy to get to. Plenty of free parking close by. Location great for cheshireoaks and restaurants. Staff really friendly and helpful. Clean rooms. Everything in good working order and safety conscious. Just lacked cupboard space for clothes and hanging space.

Excellent room-for-money hotel. The entrance is a bit dodgy, especially at nighttime, but staff is very welcoming and reception service is 24-hours.
My bed was excellent every time I stayed and if you are a shop-aholic this hotel is located in the middle of a large shopping district, boasting several shops, stores, restaurants and one of the larges designer outlets in the UK.
