“An authentic touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Cafe Rouge is well known as a centre of excellence in the North West. The arrival of Celine, a young French woman from Brittany, further enhances the total experience at this superb restaurant. The decor is genuinely French, as is the food. The staff here add a personal touch, remembering people's likes and dislikes, always providing a warm welcome. Celine joins and excellent team and adds to the francophile's enjoyment.

“poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Food was quite good but the service was poor, waited 15 minutes for empty plates to be taken eventually asked them to clear table, not asked if we wanted anything else so asked for coffee, waiter just stood and stared at us until my husband asked for the same type as we had finished. We were not offered a choice. Disappointing as we had been there before and had much better service. The place wasn't busy so no excuse.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We waited 15 minutes for a drink when we sat down, even then we had to ask. Ordered a bottle of rosé. The first one the waiter brought was little over room temp. Asked for another one and was brought a properly chilled one. Why not just bring the chilled one first?

The children's menu is limited. Ordered the chicken goujons for our daughter. They were completely inedible. Deep fried, burnt and dry. I asked for them to be removed from the bill and shared my meal with her instead. Adults meals were nice but our starter plates were still on the table 20 minutes after we had finished and were still there when the waitress tried to bring our main course out.

There were about 3 staff on and about 6 tables. Hardly busy.

Wouldn't go again.
