“Absolutely fabulous!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

Myself and my husband got married at Crewe hall on 2/08/2013. Everyone at Crewe hall were amazing right from day one of booking the venue. Sam asllop our wedding coordinator made our dreams come true providing everything we wanted with in reason of course! The building is beautiful and sets the perfect romantic setting for our special day. Nils our coordinator on the day was truly amazing making the day run to perfection. We didn't even have to think what needed doing it was all sorted! The food was impeccable. We spent the weekend at Crewe hall and the restaurant was superb great value for money and afternoon tea in the Sheridan lounge is an experience not to be forgotten. A time in our lives which was truly amazing thanks to everyone at Crewe hall!!

We stayed at Crewe Hall in August and have to say that it is really impressive. The long drive and the grandeur of the building were overwhelming and the room was also fantastic although we were fortunate enough to stay in the original building in a feature room.

The hotel has an extensive extension at the back and there are rooms, conference facilities and the leisure centre. The leisure facilities were good and are complementary to hotel guests, the jacuzzi is highly recommended.

The downside to the extension is the fact that the restaurant and bar are in the new part and as such the experience of staying in a grand hotel like Crewe Hall is somewhat lost. With regards to the restaurant experience, the food was average but the service was not so great. Additionally the tables were very cramped together and most were wobbly, we had an early sitting and witnessed the waitress going round all of the single tables with napkins trying to level them off. The bar in the hotel is ultra modern to the extent where we felt that we were unable to relax therefore we only had one evening drink and then retired. The breakfast service was also in the new restaurant and all I can say was that it was extremely busy with several items, pastries mainly, running out before the end of service.

I have contacted the hotel since our stay to highlight the above and I am pleased to say that I have had a response. In short the hotel are going to trial opening a further restaurant and bar in the original part of the hotel for guests who would like to experience a more formal experience. We are really looking forward to returning to Crewe Hall to experience this.

Overall the hotel was top notch but the dining experience does not match with the expectations of staying at a grand place like this. There are a lot of weddings at the hotel which mainly appear to be in a separate section however this does mean that the morning breakfast is really busy. Also the drinks prices are high, £6.50 for an average size glass of wine.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the original building.

Dear Steve C,
Thank you for your review.
Whilst pleased that you enjoyed your overall stay I am sorry that your dining expectations were not met. We are in the process of trialling our fine dining restaurant on a monthly basis with a view to extending the opening to bi-weekly in 2012 however this will be based on the demand from our guests.
I do hope you will return to Crewe Hall and I look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Kind regards

Breakaway member so use Q hotels if travelling
We we're driving London to Cairnryan and looking for an over night stop
We found Crewe Hall
What a building and setting
The old part with Chapel and halls must be wonderful for a wedding
We stayed in the new wing and used the Spa
Excellent
Brasserie in the evening was fine.

I stayed for two nights and commend the hotel on their welcome and the actual accommodation side but the restaurant left a lot to be desired.

Check in was quick and thorough although would have benefitted from a porter to help with luggage especially as the room I was in was quite a walk. However the bedroom was a good sized and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size but the showerhead was dirty and crusted with scale.

The service in the restaurant was dreadful with it taking 15 minutes for water to be brought to the table. On three separate occasions the wrong meals were brought and by the end of it I just wanted to leave. Needless to say I ate out the following night.

Having stayed at this hotel before it was quite a let down and I will be booking in somewhere else next time.

Dear Sue S,
Thank you for your review.
I am really sorry that, on this occasion, we have failed to deliver to our usual high standards with regards to the Brasserie service. Your feedback has been shared with our Brasserie Manager so that he may identify and address your comments with the team.
On a more positive note I am pleased that you enjoyed the accommodation and warmth of welcome from our reception team. I do hope you will re-consider and give Crewe Hall another opportunity to show you how we look after our guests.

We got married here on 31st August and what can I say but just perfect. From the initial planning with Lucy who was fabulous to the organisation by Nils on the day. The food, service and ambiance were perfect and the day ran like clockwork. Our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. All the staff were fantastic but a special thank you to Lucy who made our wedding planning such fun with her enthusiasm and people skills which are second to none ....... Thank you so much Lucy

We have stayed here several times, with and without the children. We have experienced the new rooms and the older style rooms, including the tower suite. Rooms have always been immaculately clean, well equipped and have had a great nights sleep. Food has always been to a high standard in the restaurant and the children have always been catered for. If you get a chance afternoon tea is a must, have done this on two occasions. First time was an anniversary so we had the afternoon tea with champagne (works out not much more money to have a bottle instead of a glass). Second time we took our 3 children (15, 12 & 9) again great experience which the children also enjoyed and were well catered for. We have also used the spa and pool facilities and have always been pleased. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning in October.

Room Tip: Interconnecting rooms are great with the children. If travelling as a couple, treat yourselves and s...
