“Spa weekend treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Arrived to friendly staff who were very welcoming. First impressions were fantastic of the building in the old part and the new part where our room was very nice. Room large and clean, beds medium soft, bathroom a good size, overall decor in room pleasant. We were near the restaurant but did not notice any noise and a short walk to the spa area which was helpful. I had not long had a knee replacement but managed the stairs when needed but could of done with a lift but there were options if you needed but would of have to ask staff and these were quite far from our room.
The spa treatments were very good, and the staff made us feel welcome. We used the pool ( a little cold for my taste) and seemed well used, the steam room and sauna were clean and could fit about 8 people in. The Jacuzzi was small and could fit about 4 people in only but lovely and warm. There is a gym above which you could see from the pool, but as we didn't venture in there cant say how well equipped it is.
We were on a spa package deal, which gave us £26 for evening meal, we found we could get three courses but the choice was not massive on the menu but well cooked and presented. Breakfast was all you can eat full English, as well as a good choice of cereals, fruit, pastries with tea/coffee and orange juice included. Lunch has three courses and all you can eat of it. Drinks are not included in your package and a little pricey.
Over all we would go back as the hotel is lovely, food well done, spa treatments good and no big hard sell on products, staff very friendly and professional.

Room Tip: Let staff know if you have any issues with mobility when booking

The rooms of this hotel are great, with nice en suite facilities and all mod cons in the room. We stayed 2 nights using it as a stop over on our way to Africa and caught the train to Manchester airport, very handy. We celebrated my wife's birthday having a family lunch on Sunday which was excellent. The food is of a high standard and the service was good, all meals were hot for our party of 10, and the wines we ordered were excellent.

Dear Johnnyzbass,
Thank you for your review.
I'm delighted that your wife had such a lovely birthday with us and that you both enjoyed your stay. I trust your onward journey to Africa was stress free and that should you be in the Cheshire area again you will come back and see us.

The hotel is a magnificent Jacobean mansion, with historical features such as its own little chapel and old libraries. The architecture inside and out is a feast for the eyes and looks well cared for. The staff were very helpful and pleasant despite there being 2 weddings and they made our stay very pleasant. Of the two meals we had in the Brasserie, the thai fishcakes and the Duck with noodles and pak choi was delicious. However, the lamb rump salad starter was lacking in salad and the T bone pork steak was overcooked. The Eccles cake with Lancashire cheese was absolutely amazing and well worth the wait while it was baked fresh for us. The breakfast was well stocked with plenty of choice. We were upgraded to a feature room in the main hotel, which was very comfortable and luxurious, but on the hottest weekend of the year had no air conditioning or fridge and we couldn't find a safe.
We paid for the romantic break deal and overall was good value for money and we would definitely recommend for a short break in lovely surroundings.

Dear Joanne F,
Thank you for your feedback. Whilst pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us I am sorry that you found your starter and main course to be questionable. I will be sharing your feedback with our Head Chef in due course. Given the age of the original building and in order to maintain such a beautiful building we are unable to provide air conditioning in our feature bedrooms however we do have portable fans which can be provided upon request. I hope you will return to Crewe Hall in the future.
Kind regards

Stayed here for a Spa break ( i night), fantastic staff and room, brilliant spa and pool and jacuzzi, wonderful restaurant and great breakfast in the morning.
On top of this we had bubbly and chocolates in the room and a fantastic old hall to explore.

Well done Q Hotels.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the old hall for ambiance, new rooms for hot water etc.

This is a beautiful hotel. The hall is very impressive. It is not too difficult to locate and is situated within easy reach of the British Rail station with trains to Liverpool within thirty minutes.
The grounds were gorgeous but one could not help feeling that the car park space compromised some of the beauty.
The staff were very friendly and keen to help. The modern part was a real juxtaposition of style and a little disappointing but at least very clean.
The restaurant was satisfactory and the food fine although it was served at 8am on Saturdays which was a little tricky as we were due early at Liverpool University for an open day.
This is a pleasant venue and we would love to return soon. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I was in Crewe Hall for a 2 day conference. The main building is stunning with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. I was in the modern part of the hotel which i preferred. The staff were very smiley and helpful. I have never stayed in a hotel that every member of staff that I cam across said hello. Credit to the team! The Brassie had a good selection of food. The mushroom soup was delicious. Didn't get a chance to use the spa but colleagues said the facilities were fantastic.
Will be back!

Just back from weekend stay
Very impressive building, initial impressions good. Both arrived after long day.Shown to room by quite scruffy young chap who made no offer to carry bags. I pushed mine into his hand, still he made no offer to take my wife's bag and moved off towards the room. Both wanted to take shower on arrival only to find only one small bottle of shampoo, one small bottle of conditioner and a small bottle of gel (enough for one person) contacted reception and explained it was a double room and there were 2 people. Lady apologized and one more of each was delivered to the room.
Next day same thing, having paid over £100 per night for a room the last thing I would expect is scrimping on toiletries.
Bed was awful providing no support both woke following day with bad back and neck.
Eat in the hotel bistro first night. Over priced, average food. Duck starter is a joke (read restaurant reviews for other unhappy customers)
Received vouchers on arrival for drinks, obviously someone has taken note of the comments regarding overpriced drinks, still expensive but what we have come to expect in hotels
Breakfast was well cooked and well presented, service was very good even on a busy Sunday morning
My wife made use of the spa and said both the staff and treatments were excellent.
We always try to stay in Q hotels when travelling. It is unfortunate that Crewe Hall does not maintain the standards of other hotels in the group being let down by the little touches that matter and the bistro . Staff and managers may benefit from a trip to the Midland to see how it is done
