“Comfortable and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

For a hotel that is fairly old - I guess about 20 years old - I was impressed. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Only the essentials are provided, meaning costs are kept down- soap yes; shampoo no. Tea and coffee yes; biscuits no. TV yes; flat screen no.

Very quiet location - so a great night's sleep. Pleasant friendly and helpful staff. Easy access and just what i needed after a long drive with more miles ahead the next day. Places to eat close by too.

Needed somewhere to break the journey between Cornwall and Scotland. This was not at a service station but just off the motorway.

We had called ahead from another Travelodge which didn't have a room. By the time we got there the heating had been turned on and the room was cosy and warm. Tea making facilities were much appreciated before falling asleep in a comfy clean bed.

We even got a discount on breakfast from the Little Chef next to it.

It was far enough off the motorway not to have ant traffic noise and there were no lorries so all in all was very peaceful. Will certainly stop there again on our Waugh up to Scotland.

Room Tip: No advice needed. All the rooms looked well appointed!

The travelodge was great. Although the fitted furniture was a little tired it was still a pleasant enough room, this could have been due to it being allocated as a "pet friendly" room. The shower took a little while to heat up on the first night, but it was 3am by the time I arrived. The staff were all very friendly and courteous. (The uniforms could do with smartening up a bit, fleeces on front desk staff, although practical, doesn't really present a professional image of the company, this however is just a personal gripe.)

Very clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed - I had no trouble sleeping whatsoever.

There was a bit of a funny smell in one of the corridors on the Saturday evening, not sure what it was but it definitely wasn't pleasant! It also seemed to have affected the water later on as well.

Great location just off junction 16 of the M6 but set just far enough away to avoid any traffic noise.

I would avoid using the Burger King located inside the Little Chef building just across from the Travelodge though (although not Travelodge's fault I hasten to add). I went in on the Saturday morning to get a take away coffee and waited ten minutes to be served which was a bit ridiculous!

All in all a great two night stay, and would definitely stay here again. Great value for money, comfortable rooms and the best option for anyone travelling on a fairly tight budget. I would even recommend for longer stays.

Highly recommended!

We did not stay at this Travelodge but due to a nearby gastro-pub not having a disabled toilet in the restaurant, had to make an emergency stop at this service area for my disabled mother before driving back South. My partner went in 1st to ask if they had a disabled toilet and the lady on reception was extremely helpful and propped doors open etc whilst we wheeled in my mum.

The no-problem approach and welcome for our very brief stop was very much appreciated.

Thank you.
