“Excellent Service, amazing food.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We stayed here for a rare night away to ourselves. The room was small but perfectly appointed and exceptionally clean. The service was great, very friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner in the restaurant and had the 'taster menu' which was of a very high standard. The breakfast the following day was equally as good. This hotel is an excellent choice if you are looking for somewhere to spend a relaxing evening with fabulous food.

I stayed here for work as the place was recommended to me. Location was great.

Rooms are of a traditional style which is not to my taste but they were nicely done and clean.

My room was very small indeed while my colleague hit the jackpot.

Niggles include room size, awful WiFi (but allusive wired connection available) and desk (dressing table with a stool so couldn't work at it comfortably).

Probably better for leisure than business.

we had our annual Xmas party here in December as in previous years, champagne reception, set menu which was pre ordered, entertainment and disco. A great time was had by all BUT the dinner and service was appalling, shockingly bad, it bore no comparison in any positive respect to previous years. Either the budget per head had been halved or the kitchen staff had just arrived on a banana boat. The gravy for the turkey ( an ambitious description ) arrived after the main course had been eaten and the Christmas pud was unrecognisable, being a most unusual pale shade of ginger. It was school dinner standard, 1970 style. At the earliest opportunity i wrote to the GM to register my dissapointment and had no response at all save a statement for the outstanding balance. As a regular user for visitor accomodation and the above this is pretty poor.

Room Tip: reports from staff who stayed over were very positive

Winnie66Cheshire, General Manager at Alderley Edge Hotel, responded to this review, January 10, 2013
Having read Mr Massey’s comments – the complaint letter was received on Friday, 4th January 2013, an e-mail was sent immediately explaining the matter would be investigated thoroughly. On the 7th January an e-mail was forwarded explaining and apologizing for the upset caused with a follow up letter on the 8th January. Explanation as below:

The General Manager and Staff at the Alderley Edge Hotel take their jobs very seriously, on that evening unfortunately two of the young service staff were quite slow on Mr Massey’s table and perhaps one other, they ran out of gravy and went to replenish which lost timing, also on the evening the same staff did not portion the served food correctly which did not help. Mr Massey complained about the Traditional Christmas pudding, it was not a Traditional pudding but actually a Christmas Sponge pudding as stated on the menu, that is why Mr Massey saw a huge difference.

Upon departing the hotel Mr Massey’s leading team members all thanked our staff and commented what a good time they had had, which led to us been unaware of any problems until the letter arrived.

It is most disappointing that Mr Massey did not see fit to approach me with his concerns at the time when this could have been explained and corrected.

Had our Civil Partnership at The Alderley Edge Hotel in June, it was the most perfect day that we will never forget, both food and service was excellent for our 110 guests, the support from the wedding planner leading up to our big day was fantastic and I am not the easiest person to work with, the restaurant and brasserie are also very good as we became regulars leading up to our big day and I would reccomend eating here, especially the Sunday lunch.

Room Tip: Presidential Suite

In November 2012 my company held an event here for our top clients and their guests, 45 people in total. The event manager was very helpful in the lead up, she understood exactly what we were asking for at every stage and supported us very well. On the night we were met in the Laurent Perrier Suite with champagne and canapes, both of which were excellent. Following a business presentation, dinner was served, 4 courses of truly excellent food and wine, with service to match, from a menu created for the event by the resident chef. Every single one of our clients rated the venue at least 4 out of 5 on our client feedback forms, and it is fair to say that the performance of the hotel and restaurant greatly enhanced our own reputation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a wedding or corporate event venue, they absolutely nailed it.

I booked a night at the Alderley Edge hotel on 27th October for my wife and I to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we arrived a little early and we were told our room would be ready in 15 minutes, we decided to have a drink in the bar where we were quickly attended to by the pleasant and efficient staff, when our room was ready for us we were told we had been upgrade to the Arley suite.
The Arley Suite is a prestige’s suite and must be one of the best rooms in the hotel, this was a wonderful gesture and made our stay extra special, we also had booked the 7 course evening Gourmet taster dinner which was accompanied by wines that complimented each course, the whole experience was second to none the staff could not be more at tentative and the Chef’s courses were exquisite and first class.
I cannot thank the Alderley Edge hotel enough for what was a wonderful stay.
We will certainly be returning again very soon.
