this hotel is set up for golfers the rooms were clean and fitted the purpose. Both 18 hole golf courses were a good test and the food was excellent with a good choice we re thinking of returning .The Abbotsley course is worth a visit on its own it challengered our golfers ranging from 5 to 24 .

We booked this hotel having been told it was a good place to stay for a group of lads as the bars stayed open all night. However, this wasnt the case which is different to other golf hotels and probably lost the hotel some money as there were 10 of us all wanting to carry on drinking. We were clearly mis sold this by Your Golf Travel as the bar maid told us the bar never stayed open late!

The rooms are fine and perfectly adequate for the amount of time which you are going to spend in them. There is a nice bar area and the upstairs with the sofa and games rooms were also nice. Unlike other golf hotels the bar price was reasonable at under £3.50 a pint. There was also some good bar staff who were friendly and managed to find us some shots as we wanted them for some of the forfeits after the golf.

The food was pretty poor really and this was even after a few drinks. The menu was quite elaborate when the quality was so low. I had the trio of duck and slow roasted pork belly. Both were pretty poor really and personally I think it would have made more sense for the hotel to have a more basic menu and do that well rather than try and offer a wide selection of poorly prepared foods. You wouldnt want to be a veggie though as the only choice was mushroom starter followed by mushroom main course!

The Abbotsley course is very good and quite challening, if you struggle off the tee then some holes would be a struggle, but it wasnt so hard that quite novice players couldnt get round. The Cromwell is a well maintained course but very open so allows people to just swing wildly and then play off the wrong fairway which can be annoying at times.

We stayed at the Abbotsley for 2 nights at the weekend. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Both the dinners and breakfasts are of a high quality and the staff very pleasant and helpful. I did not play the course but did go around with some very competant golfers who still found the course challenging. It was certainly beautiful and well-maintained. The only slight comment I could make is that the reception staff do tend to go walkabouts and you quite often have to wait a while!!!

We stayed at this venue for three nights recently as a party of four golfers and could not fault it. All the staff were friendly and the golf courses were excellent. The Abbotsley is quite a challenging course. Both courses were in excellent condition. The Food was of excellent quality and the drinks were reasonably priced. All the bar and reception staff were very friendly. We would recommend this venue.

I attended the abbotsley golf and country club on august 10 to 12 with the dordon institute golf society from dordon, near tamworth. 28 rowdy beer swigging men and no women. all of us hacking a round the two golf courses over two days. the establishment was in very good condition and the rooms were very comfortable and the food was also in good order. we even had chips on the saturday night even though it was not on the menu ( amazing what you get when you ask for it). the staff were very welcoming and we did have a laugh with them. the golf courses were in very good condition with one course very challenging and the other a bit more forgiving. would reccomend this to anybody and would definitley go back.
