“Good now, will be even better in July”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Lunch on Father's Day was very enjoyable. The menu choice was fairly small but presentation, quality and serving quantity were all excellent. Prices were very reasonable too. A good selection of cask beers are also available. The new management are definitely trying hard and deserve to do well. The pub itself has character with exposed beams, some original to the building, some maybe not, all of which makes visiting enjoyable. At present the restaurant is not open all day every day so check before visiting. The talk in the bar was about a major refurbishment to be undertaken at the end of June 2013 which will uplift the decor, tables, furnishings and toilets. Hopefully this will not affect the overall character but will make welcome improvements, they said they plan a full every day restaurant service afterwards. We look forward to a return visit when this is completed.

“New management and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We tried the restaurant again as it is under new management. The food is very good, there is a new menu and the food is well presented and good value. We tried the chicken and the sea bass both were excellent. Good luck to the new team in the pub, we hope you make a success of it!

“First night”

Delicious food and very warmly welcomed by staff, who were keen to make this a positive experience. The pub was buzzing by the time we left. Good luck with the pub under new management.

“New management”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Friday 24th May was the first night with new landlord, new chef and new menu. We had booked as a last minute alternative to a picnic due to the torrential rain, and despite it being May, the real fire was certainly welcoming, as were the staff. The new menu has a good selection of different meals, but kept sensibly focused. Between the five of us we sampled the venison sausages, the steak and sea bass. All were generous portions, with a good selection of vegetables, so much so that only one dessert was ordered, which was a vanilla cheesecake, which was tasty, well presented with a very good vanilla ice cream in a brandy snap basket. The pub has a good selection of well kept Fullers ales. A good start to the new team and hopefully they will do well.

“Great village pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

60th Birthday party for 25 people, fantastic welcome - great food and the table decoration was beautiful! John the new landlord really laid on a great evening for everyone. Continue like this and we shall have the pub heaving again!
