“Took booking and cancelled the day before”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

I spent a long time choosing this hotel-it looked perfect. When I booked, via booking.com it was showing that two rooms were available. The day before I was due to take up the booking, I received a telephone call from Booking.com telling me that the hotel had overbooked. This meant that I had to spend hours searching for an alternative as all reasonably priced hotels were now booked. What sort of hotel/B and B, does this? My feeling is that I was turned down because I was a single traveller, and they took a double room booking instead. DON'T trust this place!

Spindrift is at the end of a small lane at the edge of Jordans village, established by Quakers in the 1920s, and still a haven of peace and tranquillity. Here you will find the Mayflower barn, made from timbers of the famous ship in 1624, and the resting place of WIlliam Penn. Spindrift is a house in the arts and crafts style at the eend of Puers Lane, surrounded by a wonderful varied garden including herbaceous borders, a quarry garden, a collection of over 100 Hostas. The garden is sometimes open to visitors and well worth it, but best of all is to stay here. Norma makes her own shortbread to go with your tea, and the selection of different teas is great, as is the care in furnishing the room. Definitely stay in for dinner- Norma is a great cook and uses the fresh produce from the garden which she's made. She and John are good company, too. Worth staying at if visiting London, as it's only a short journey on the Chiltern Line (from Marylebone).
