Following all the hype in the local media we decided to give the new Spice restaurant a try. The old Spice resaurant had been there for many years and became rather run down and tired so we hoped the revamped restaurant might be better, sadly it doesn't seem to be. The jumbo prawn starters arrived, great sauce but the prawns themselves were almost raw and very chewy, fortunately we didn't wake up next morning with a bad stomach. For the main course I selected a jalfreze, normally hot and vibrant, but not this one - I had to mix in the Bombay potato to give it any taste at all. It seemed to consist of cold pre-cooked meat in a mediocre sauce. The dessert menu is just a few factory made icecreams or cake. A very sad evening out. The restaurant itself is clean and functional but lacking any atmosphere, we spotted only a single potted plant to act as decoration.
