I stayed for three nights in the Aft Room. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to unwind and relax. I had mentioned that I needed a break from the stress of caring for my elderly parents so the hosts - Nicholas and Sandy - knew I needed some solitude.
I could feel the tension start melting away as soon as I pulled up. Lake Huron has that effect on people. The house and its garden are lovely and obviously meticulously maintained. I appreciated the shady spots where I could read and snooze without worrying about sunscreen.
And the breakfasts! I had been pleasantly surprised and impressed when Sandy took the time to email beforehand to ask what I liked to eat. I enjoyed fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, an amazing frittata, a popover, an omelette . . . & a freshly made muffin or scone if I could manage! All delicious, all beautifully presented.
I was reading one evening and noticed a note under my door. Sandy had left a plate of cherries, some dipped in chocolate, on the hallway table. I need more of this kind of pampering in my life! I'm definitely going back soon.
