“Laid back on the beach.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

We have been travelling across the Yucatan for the past 2 weeks and found ourselves at XTC Dive center. We booked one of the three rooms which were right on ther beach, palm trees, hammocks, and a dock with a few dive boats. They were remodeling the restaurant which had a great view of the water and dock. The room we booked was one of the nicest we had stayed in to date, which ran $45. u.s. it was very nice and clean , with wi-fi but no T.V. We didn't do any diving , but had a very nice stay there, the manager was very accomodating and spoke english which made things a lot easier.

“Friendly, helpful staff and lovely diving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We had a great visit - the refresher course was really important for us and Rodrigo and the rest of the staff was very patient going through all the important skills. The dives were wonderful and the dive masters were great - we felt safe and had a really fun trip. Highly recommend these guys!

“Great way to start diving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

My wife and I plus 4 others did three days diving. The team included Shark Bait, Sturgeon, Great White, Flounder, Limpet and Grouper.

We were newly qualified and the others we much more experienced. We had a great time. They managed our different skill levels and air consumption rates really well. We got to choose where we dived and saw a great range of coral and lots of cool fish including grouper, rays, barracuda plus some very friendly! Lion fish who followed us. Also did some cool swim throughs. Ben our dive master was excellent. Can't wait to go back.

“Nice diving, good centre...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

We spent three days diving with XTC - six in the group with a range of experience from newly qualified to Assistant Instructor with 200 plus dives. We were well looked after, with plenty of Divemaster trainees accompanying us so that different rates of air consumption between newbies and more experienced divers proved no problem. Nice gentle diving, with some good coral. We didn't fdo the Banco Chinchorro - we had mixed recommendations - so can't comment on that. But it was pleasant diving with lots of swim-throughs and the off turtle. What's not to like? Thanks to Ben in particular for guiding us.

“Very professional dive centre in Xcalak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

My wife and I did (only) 1 morning i.e. 2 dives each with XTC around mid-February 2014. Gear was OK (although full-length wetsuits were scarce - water is really warm, but that was the end of our stay after 2 weeks of diving almost everyday so feeling a bit tired and feeling cold more easily). Very well organized centre, serious guys, excellent small boat. The reef just off Xcalak is very colourful and the XTC people are the local experts it seems. Chinchorro bank was not proposed to us spontaneaously, maybe not enough divers or maybe the weather was a bit uncertain that day, we did not dare asking, so we missed this which is a pity. Neither did we ask if a boat pick-up at our hotel (Costa de Cocos) would have been possible, this was not proposed (again a pity given the disastrous condition of the road in Xcalak). Anyway, the most important is that we had a fab time diving in this area, all was done so that we could focus on enjoying smooth, hassle-free dives. Our guide was Rodrigo, who is one of the best, nicest and most passionate divers we've come across during our many dives off the Costa Maya. Good food afterwards at the XTC-run small restaurant. As always withdrawing cash a real issue in this part of Mexico, but XTC allowed us to pay via Paypal the next day. Thanks for all XTC folks!
