“Relaxing and Special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

I stayed here for only one night as part of a tour of the Yucatan, but it was by far my favorite hotel on the trip. The staff was wonderful and the rooms were large , clean and appointed well. We walked to the sound and light show at the ruins in just a couple minutes. We enjoyed dinner there as well as breakfast. Only wish we could have stayed longer to try the pool which looked wonderful.

Stayed here for 4 nights from the 20 August 2013 on a Yucatan Explorer Tour with Mayaland Tours through Thomson Holidays.A superb resort hotel adjacent to the Maya ruins at Uxmal, with a number of bungalows in a landscaped area with a pool and also a superb set of rooms in a 2 storey block also with a pool at the front and a view of the Maya Temple of the Magican, and then the openair Maya style restaurant adjacent to it ,with a superb menu of choices, wonderfull friendly staff and a very nice Manager who always found time to chat to you.My room was on the ground floor of the block,it was extremely spacious with a huge very comfortable bed, remote control aircon and a fan, fridge mini bar, large screen TV and coffee making facilities. The bathroom treat was a Jacuzzi bath/shower with the personal touch of hotel herbal toiletries. It had a wide balcony with table, rocking chair and a hammock overlooking the pool.Daily there was a new towel display on the bed of birds/animals with floral petals on the bed and in the bathroom,a nice treat.A superb hotel in a great location for a base to explore the Maya area.

We stayed 4 nights as part of the Yucatan Explorer tour with Thomsons (having paid the 7 night hotel upgrade). We stayed in a ground floor room at the end of a two-storey, eight room block. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Being at the end it also had plenty of character with a curved end wall featuring a long, tall curved window.
The hotel is located directly opposite the entrance to the Uxmal site and hence was extremely convenient for return visits to the Uxmal site in the afternoon and evening and for the local souvenir shops and stalls.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were good (and the drinks incuded with the upgrade).
The hotel was extremely quiet in the mornings and evenings with only a few guests for breakfast and dinner.
All the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
Would we recommend the hotel and stay here again? Yes and maybe.
Yes we recommend the hotel.
The other members of the tour who did not upgrade stayed at the Hacienda which is a few minutes walk away. The Hacienda is part of the Mayaland group which we stayed with and very much enjoyed at Chichen Itza. It looked a very nice hotel and also has had distinguished guests. It was a difficult decision between the Lodge and the Hacienda at Uxmal but the upgrade at Chichen Itza was worth it. Next time if I was just staying at Uxmal I would try the Hacienda.

Room Tip: An end room in one of the 8 room blocks is spacious and has character.

I stayed here for over a week so I had enough time to really experience this hotel.
It was amazing. The rooms immaculate, roomy and beautiful. The staff sweet and friendly.
The restaurant was wonderful and accomodated my special diet.
The pools lovely. The beds comfortable. It vibe of this place was restful.
The rooms had remote control air conditioning which I had plenty of opportunities to use.
My only complaint, is that I had to leave... but I will be back.

We are going to surprise you on your next visit ! The NEW Choco Story Museum is about to open within walking distance to the Lodge (behind us,a couple of hundred yards east of the Hacienda Uxmal). Our old hacienda is ready to reopen it's orchards to our visitors this fall.

Thank you for sharing your great review with the world!

You cannot find a hotel closer to the ruins at Uxmal than the lodge. our suite was fantastic. our room had three double beds, 2 in the main room and one on a raised wooden mezzanine platform which our 21 year old daughter made her own haven for our 4 night stay. a superb bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. what a delight!! we were on the second floor overlooking the pool. June is the start of the rainy season in Mexico and apart from ourselves there were very few people staying at the Hotel. I think the Hacienda just down the driveway was a little fuller. The entrance to the archeological site at Uxmal is only 100 yards away and if your room is on the front of the hotel and on the first floor you can open your door to he fantastic views of the the magicians pyramid. although somewhat remote (you won't be taking any walks to the local bars), you really feel as though you are in the middle of the jungle probably back in the 1950's. The food was fine, no complaints, but when you are the only people in the restaurant I feel somewhat uneasy at having more waiters than diners. However this is no fault of the hotels, probably just the time of year. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge.

Room Tip: Juniur suites are superb. If you want the romance of waking up to the view of the magicians pyramid...

We actually stayed at the Hacienda hotel across the road but came to the Lodge for lunch on two days. On the first visit we had a wonderful buffet and on the second we were given a menu but our party went off menu to have Tacos and we were given lots of wonderful refried beans, quacamole, salsa and chilli sauce. On both occasions we were greeted with refreshing wet towels and given a very warm welcome by William the manager. I would certainly advise anyone doing the Yucatan Explorer with Thomson's to upgrade to the Lodge however on saying that the Hacienda was perfectly acceptable.

Room Tip: We didn't stay here we just ate lunch.

We booked two nights because of the proximity to the Uxmal ruins and other nearby sites, and because it was classified as a luxury lodge. While the placer is ok and the staff very friendly, it was extremely noisy becasue of renovations. Crew was putting on a new roof and the hammering was incessant all day long. Not peaceful or luxury. make sure you check this before staying - we were not told about this when we booked. ASince we had to pay at the time of booking, we had no option but to stay.

We make every effort imaginable to have the best environment possible for our guests, and we obviously made a mistake in assigning your room during the replacement of part of a thatched roof in one of our bungalows. Kindly contact me through Trip Advisor. Thank You.
